Apart from losing two hundred odd knicker, which in the greater scheme of things isn't a huge amount, I do have some serious concerns about our Government's role in this and other financial scandals.

I would not pretend to be energetic enough to take on those other instances, but if there are enough like minded souls who feel a united and coordinated front may help us in this particular case, I think it would be worth a shot. I do not seriously believe that we should go down the class action route, yet, that was hyperbole and puff, but we may get somewhere by acting together.

There are other creditors, but I am thinking only of passengers who have paid fares and have not had the benefit of the Flybe rescue package which has been much vaunted. I am formulating quite a few arguments as to why the Government, if not legally bound to give some assistance, should at least be morally bound to repay the tax paid for each ticket and at best ensure alternative arrangements are available to ALL those who have booked tickets and give an undertaking to end the open skies policy which just seems to land us with ever more destinations, but little hope of ever reaching any of them! If John Wright wants to get involved, then that would be great, and I am sure we would benefit from his advice, but at this stage, my gut feeling is that we should go down the non-formal legal action route.

So, who is interested?

> Taxis - Day Of Action
Posted by Amadeus - 05-16-08 08:46 - 80 comments
No cabs picking up at the airport at the moment - business peeps queuing for the bus.

Notices being given out:

Day of Action

The airport taxi drivers apologise for any inconvenience caused this morning to the travelling public.

We are in dispute with the Department of Transport and Government over the implementation of new regulations which will ultimately affect our business and standard of living.

As professional drivers we do not like to take actions such as this but feel we have no alternative in this case.

Empty

Not moving

Also no cabs picking up tonight between 11pm and 1am I believe?

All good wishes that Robert pulls through.

From Ulster Television news:

Robert Dunlop seriously injured in North West 200 session

Ulster rider Robert Dunlop has suffered serious chest injuries after a high speed crash at this evening's final practice session for Saturday's North West 200.

He`s also being treated at the Causeway Hospital for burns and a fractured leg.

He was involved in a 130 miles per hour crash with another Ulster rider - Darren Burns.

Dunlop is the most successful rider in the history of this event, with 15 wins to his credit.

I killed a game bird of some sort today, it stepped out in front of me when I was doing about 50. I hit it squarely and a plume of feathers was evident in my rear-view. The car going the other way actually swerved to avoid the carcase, or what was left of it, and nearly caused an accident with the car behind me! Why do people do that?

> Baby Bird
Posted by Minxie - 05-15-08 17:27 - 17 comments
There is a baby blackbird in my back garden that can't fly and is hopping around. The neighbour's cat was stalking it earlier and the parent birds were going mad. I knocked on the window which scared the cat away, but the parent birds also seem to have vanished and left baby sitting there. I don't want to touch it in case they come back, but think that they have given up. I didn't want to leave it to the mercy of the cat either, but don't really know what to do with it. Any ideas?

> Buses And Bus Drivers
Posted by 3v0 - 05-15-08 13:20 - 16 comments
What's the score with buses using your side of the road because they are too fucking big?

I understand that they are bigger than most other road users and obviously it can't be that easy to manouver one, however, coming down victoria road the other day (I was on my own side of the road) i came round a corner to be confronted by 1/3 of a double decker in front of my face, now he couldn't or just didn't try to avoid me or slow down in the slightest just carried on aiming at me so I was forced to slam the brakes on and near enough clip the curb. Much cursing and swearing from me was to follow but he bumbled off regardless, stupid 2hat.

So i'm now upgrading buses on my list of most hated road users above horse trams (although they are still in for a chance of the title this year!)

Sent a parcel weighing 2.7kg using Standard Parcel Post to Ireland and it cost a whopping £17.50. Are there any cheaper/alternative carriers you can suggest? I looked at DHL but that was worse.
