  1. DEFA consultation Document.

Scottish vessel prosecuted for illegal fishing - Manx Radio.html Take a look at the size of that fucking thing , should be nowhere near the 3 mile. The 3 mile is supposed to be exclusively for Manx Vessels ,which are mostly smaller with smaller dredges (to a maximum of six per side!) but if you look at the pic the dredges on that boat are twice the size of a normal dredge and twice the weight that you will see on a most vessels ,so my estimate is the equivelant of 8 per side ,which would be capable of wiping out inshore grounds very quickly . What we are looking at here is a very serious offence and if the licence has not been stripped from this vessel then it says all you need to know about the people running our fisheries. This is the company that complained the loudest about plans to protect our fisheries inside the 12 mile limit because it's skippers did not want to steam the extra few miles to a Manx port ,for checking purposes . Yet this guy was inside 3 miles ? If DEFA ever needed a reason why nightly berthing at Manx Ports for checking is essential this is it. You could not make this shit up!!

Does anybody know if the Scottish fishing offence case was up before the beak yesterday as I can't see anything online?
  5. New MLC looks to diversify Legco.

I like him/her? But you are correct Dilligaf!! As my wise old Uncle Jimmy used to say "It's 2 ft of the ground and it can't eat grass" ! God how I miss his/her words of wisdom!!

The Alfa Romeoes of the Irish Sea.
  7. Just when I thought we'd gotten away with it ,the D word makes it's entry into Manx politics . Cretters with be gutted as he's been pushing it for a while now, but Kate appears to have stolen his thunder . Probably why Moyle never made the grade not ""diverse"" enough I don't know about anybody else but I just would like them to be good at their job, nothing else matters.

Or this one a nice little 8.5 million Euro's gamble ,that if it doesn't work can be sold on once more!
  10. Reynoldsway part 2. £80 million to spend on ports

This one is laid up in Dubai and described as an ideal project for someone with deep pockets I immediately thought "Bingo" IOM Taxpayers!!

Let's say that the project goes ahead ? What you are in fact doing is creating a "Bund" at the Harbour mouth which will collect silt being washed down in the winter and silt .stones and sand being washed into it in inshore winds ,one good North Easterly could virtually fill the deepwater berth . So I agree with Robertshaw that the Harbour will require constant dredging, costing upwards of 1.5 mill a year I think he quoted was it + standy by tug costs of another mill a year.? Deepwater dredging will also undermine the foundations of the whole existing harbour and I don't trust these peoples project management skills one iota. I'm 100% confident in their bullshitting skills but not a lot else. In short "Good for Captain Carter" but not the taxpayer . For what? So we may get a few more Cruise liners ,we may get a few Wind farm vessels to berth ? By any sane reasoning this proposal is a massive gamble with taxpayers money. John as regards Seacats they have operated the Irish sea for decades and although I don't like them you can gamble cheaply with one. They would and do cover the Holiday seasons ,the one season third you speak of would be between Oct - April so realistically not many would be traveling then anyway,in fact even when we had boats suitable for the Irish sea back in the day winter trade was pretty much non existent . Just for interest I'll try and look up Charter vessels and crews available . Doesn't the IOM spco already charter vessels and crew for the Manx route?

What exactly does ""connect properly"" mean Max?

  14. Reynoldsway part 2. £80 million to spend on ports

Chris Robertshaw is pissing all over the proposed plan mate! And he's just gone right up in my estimation for doing it! Maybe he doesn't want his son being involved in such a turkey that could well come back to bite him or maybe he is actually thinking of the Manx taxpayers ? Either way Mr Robertshaw, ""well said"" for putting your head above the parapet a very good interview by Paul Moulton.
