Well taxis are so expensive now its easier to nick something to get you home.
But sometime in the last two weeks? Who doesnt notice that their car has disappeared a few weeks ago?

I have heard of that happening. But in that case they had forgotten where it was after a night out.

Podcaster and video / photo guy Alex Lindsay once drove his car to the nearby shops, bought some stuff and walked home. Noticing his car was missing from his drive he reported it as stolen to the police. He was more than a bit embarrassed when, after a quick search, they asked if he'd left it outside the shops.

Many years ago I sometimes had to drive my cousin around Douglas on a Saturday morning to find where he'd left his car the night before.
The post says it was taken from Hills Meadow: I assume it might have been left in for repairs at a garage or something rather than forgotten?

Yes, that was my first thought. Can't see that anyone would normally choose to park there otherwise.
