Higher Than The Sun was released in 1991. I think that Orb mix is from 2012. Arthur Negus died in 1985. Feelings of elderliness on the strength of that comment are illogical.

Sorry Mrs Bees, It wasn't meant as an insult.

I know you are a fair bit younger than me, but that track sounded like something from the late 60s and you were a very young child then, if indeed you were born.

I didn't think it would be your cup of tea.flowers.gif

Villa email says ...

Formed in '84 and winners of the first ever Mercury Music Prize they pioneered a neo-psychedelic garage rock dance sound that has influenced a generation of bands and paved the way for the likes of The Stone Rose and Happy Mondays. Expect all the hits ...Get Your rocks Off, Loaded, Country Girl, plus their latest album CHAOSMOSIS."

Garage Rock is style of music originally from the 60's. There were thousands of bands formed by teenagers in America after the Beatles and the Stones. They often practiced in their parent's garage, hence the name.

The best singles were compiled in several compilations in the Seventies and these were quite influential with punk bands. The second Primal Scream lp certainly draws from this influence.

Maybe the writer is conflating that with the dance music genre of the 90's.
