Thursday April 17th
It‘s 8.20am and I’m just back from my morning walk. It’s blowing a stiff south-easterly out there at about 5 or 6 now and probably going to freshen later. I have a busy day today. I have got to be at the hospital for 2.45 p.m. as consultant flies in from Liverpool for the day. He is going to tell me how well or not so well I am doing regarding my cancer or possibly and more likely, I will tell him.
My Mother also has to fly out to Liverpool for the day to have laser treatment on her eyes and she will be back tonight. God bless Liverpool I say. It seems it isn’t only the football team we have to thank for entertainment, but their doctors, consultants and medical facilities that we all avail of, from time to time.
Every family has its rock that always steps up to be counted when needed. Well in our case that person is my cousin Lynda, daughter of my Uncle Willie. Uncle Willie, Dad’s brother, died a few years ago from cancer. He was one of the most happy go lucky people I have ever known. He was always either whistling or singing a song as he went about his daily business. He never gave straight answers to any questions. There would always be a joke or a twist to every tail. If you asked him if he took sugar, his standard answer would be. “Yes two please, dropped from approximately 3 inches and stirred anticlockwise. His daughter Lynda has accompanied Mother today to Liverpool for her laser treatment, as she has done in the past and probably will do in the future. She is forever running around doing things for the older members of the family and at the same time, bringing up her own kids. God bless Lynda! I say ‘God bless’, because ‘Boss Bless’ doesn’t quite sound right.
I note that Amazon is now selling my second-hand copies of my book, as the book is now out of print. You may be interested to note that from yesterday the audio version of the book is now available on the internet, and you can download it free of chargefrom the following links.
