  1. No doubt about it, Mr Baker is commiting politic suicide if he allows this to go ahead, ffs they have had all last year to fix any issues on the Mountain road, I am perhaps wondering are the heads of the DOI are either on drugs or another planet from the rest of us as they appear to go ground for month's then as if by magic they want to close the Island down for roadworks. If they open up the border's in late June I would expect a lot of bike enthusiasts are preparing to visit the Island during this period, although they probably did not think about any other business making a few quid after a

  3. People with absolutely no aeronautical knowledge (despite what they say) have made decisions about what the airport needs to operate. Ask any qualified aviation professional who has spoken to them - you can't kid a kidder as they say. You are right, they spend millions on what they think is needed, rather than asking and finding out what really is.Even when they are told, they don't listen. The airport is there as a vital transport link. Surely the aim should be make improvements that will allow aircraft to land in conditions that at the moment legally prohibit approaches to be made.

  8. My ghod! This is straight out of the same bureaucrat textbook that the gem: “The fact is, this is about identifying what we do best and finding more ways of doing less of it better,” came from. The end result - overpaid civil-servants sat around in endless meetings for the next 20 years achieving the square-root of b##ger-all, making decisions that would only affect 0.1% of the population in any eventuality all in the name of 'efficient' government when they wouldn't recognize efficiency if it bit their arses ten time a day. 'We' are a glorified parish council, for goodness sake - n

  10. The vast majority of that waiting list was already there pre-Covid. The Conservatives have run England's NHS into the ground like they do with every industry prior to privatising it. Covid is just the latest in a long line of excuses for them.

  12. Yes, but government paid to buy the horse trams track and rolling stock, then it bought the stables, and the Strathallan Terminus and promptly knocked it down and rebuilt it, then it ripped up the track and is now relaying it. Total cost to tax payers over 5 years in excess of £12 million. Then there’s the Liverpool Terminal. Total cost probably £50+million. We could have just abandoned both. Spent £1 million on Heysham Terminal, subsidised links to Lancaster bus and train station. Then there’s millions on RESA, the new runway turning circles, the uncosted promenade.

  15. I don't subscribe to the "reality can't be perfect so let's not make any improvements" ideology. We can at least work in the right direction. Some people get appropriately rewarded for hard work and effort. Lots don't. There are lots of changes that could be made to improve equality of opportunity, and to reduce the tendency for wealth to trickle upwards. This would put more money into the economy (less wealthy people tend to spend more locally), and in my opinion would be of benefit to all. Housing is a significant factor in this.

This post is to update you on the recent headlines regarding NHS Digital and their plans for using general practice data for planning and research purposes (GPDPR). We do apologise for the length of the post, but we feel it is very important to keep you all updated. Firstly, we want to reassure you all that Ramsey Group Practice raised this issue with Manx Care a couple of weeks ago now. Im sure other practices across the Island have done the same. The In

  38. Has there been analysis of why this is happening ? It could be that closing the road will just move the problem if the causes aren't clearly understood. I refer to various possible scenarios such as mental health, intoxication, testosterone fuelled boy racers, poor road lineage etc etc. Surely by now someone has an idea about the possible causes.

  43. Errrm have you seen the North West Area Plan? Things are 'not' fairly good, these existing and prospective candidates are deaf to the issues facing their constituents, they have no opinion to tell us about the issues facing the possible major expansion of these small communities. They at present are not fit for purpose as they are totally embroiled in the Ministerial black hole and forgotten us mere mortals. Baker and Cannan are not here for us at all, so our votes in my house go to anyone, yes anyone who opposes them.

Regardless though I think at the moment it does matter that people are testing positive even if not the primary cause for admission - If we were a couple of weeks further down the line with the vaccine programme I couldn't disagree ... but we are not. For the sake of completing the vaccination programme as best we can we need to become vigilant ... we have become complacent again and we should be aware of numbers and spread so that we can react a
