  3. True in all cases, but all the 'should' have been done has typically not.

    I bet the majority of web-devs build their site to function 100% for the largest visitor base, IE, with other browsers coming secondary.

    Being able to rely on the fact IE was installed by default, to revert back to incase of issues, may now soon not be an option.

    Example;

    User: I can't manage my bank account online with my new computer

    Bank-Support: Are you using Windows?

    User: Yes

    Bank-Support: Can you please launch https://xxxxx in Internet Explorer?

    User: I'm afraid I don't seem to have Internet Explorer! I have Chrome installed.

    Bank-Support: Internet Explorer is required to access our online banking system.

    Bank-Support: You said you have Windows, you should have Internet Explorer...

    User: I'm pretty sure I don't. It's definitely not on the start menu or desktop.

    Bank-Support: Fail

    I'm sure you get the point.

  4. Today I received the following as a Windows Critical update;

    A Browser Choice application is available in the European Economic Area

    The reason;

    Microsoft statement

    For a statement by Microsoft about the Web browser choice, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

    Microsoft Statement on European Commission Decision

    If new computers out of the box run this Browser Selection wizard, I'm sure for vendors in certain circumstances may find it hard to find a base-line to troubleshoot from. A lot of websites still only fully function with IE.

    Good/Bad idea?

    I've just ran the patch and no shortcut to the Browser Selector was supplied, neither was my Internet Explorer "switched off"

  5. I have completed the software update for the Manxforums.com website

    Some features are not working fully yet - but I am working on it.

    Report any issues here

    I hope you enjoy using the latest revision of the Invision Power Board!

    • ParaChat replaced with Invision Chat
    • Enhanced Flash powered attachment upload

  6. Some good info there :) though I won't be purchasing.

    I played 7/8/9, also 10 and 12 which I didn't complete - I got bored with the trashy Americanised characters.

    For me, none of the them is as capturing and complete as FF7.

    I'll probably invest in FF14 and see how that goes.

  13. The forums were offline today for various reasons.

    The first, a bandwitdth issue which was quickly resolved by raising the websites quota

    The second was an issue with the Topic table in the database, IPB was detecting a crash which had to be repaired.

    Due to the large size of the database, the repair took a while.

    I have run some tools on the forum to resynchronise and remove orphaned records.

    All services and pages are now back up and running.

    Sorry for this inconvenience
