I went to see the film, mainly to cheer the other half up - thought it was going to be some transformery type film that I would have to endure - but WOW - very pleasantly surprised. Came out of the cinema thinking - damn, been a long time since I came out of a movie thinking that was a damn good film. Would go back and see it a 2nd time too. Amazing to think the lead has never acted before and didnt even audition for the part. Thoroughly recommend. 5 thumbs up!

Bit of a delayed post - sorry if this sparks things up againg - but as a Kiwi, who voted in the referendum, I thought I would put my 2 pennies in. I voted NO in the referendum as I don't believe it should be illegal to smack your child within reasonable force. The anti-smacking bill came about because we do have a terrible problem with child abuse in this country and this was one way the politicians tried to close any loop holes in the law. Unfortunately the majority of the child abuse cases reported here in NZ are because of certain cultures having always dealt with discipline like that over many years. Educating people to make them see that beating a child with a belt, baseball bat or sticking them in a dryer and hanging them from a washing line (yes, horrifyingly that did happen!) is not acceptable. The problem is, a child abuser is already breaking the law, and the anti-smacking law is not going to stop that. What needs to be done is to re-educate people and to educate younger people about what is acceptable force and what isn't. Smacking your child when he/she is about to touch a steaming hot oven, even though you have said no and explained several times what would happen if they did touch it, in my opinion, is better than them getting a burnt hand and having to go to hospital. I have a niece that used to bite, one day she bit me, so I bit her back. She now understood how it hurt and it wasn't nice. Telling her it hurt (many many times) didn't seem to get through to her. Since then, she hasn't bitten me once! If you don't believe in smacking your kids - good on you, I'm glad that works for you, but there are many people (including myself) that believe a light smack, within reasonable force is ok and should not be arrested, prosecuted and put in jail for it. It sickens me to think that this could happen, when many cases here in NZ where there have been children that have died due to unbelievable child abuse, but becuase families have pulled together and hidden the true culprits, the offenders have walked free. This year alone in the news there has been 4 children die and only one person so far has been convicted (I could be wrong on this figure, but it's only these that come to mind). I only hope that the government takes notes of the 90% that voted NO and looks to perhaps adjust it's current law. Thank you - and good night

He needs to show the parentage so not sure which one that would be or do both short and full forms cover that?

Does anyone know how I can get hold of an IOM Birth Cert quickly - and do you reckon I can get it here in NZ or would I have to get it sent from the IOM? I have tried googling everything - don't really want to have to wait for the post from the other side of the world and having to pay in £ is a pain in the arse when all you have is $. Any help would be great!

Not only am i nearer to 40, that means i'm closer to 50!!!! OH GOD!! Thanks for the birthday wishes - I have had the best day ever. The other half went all out and made my day one to remember. Glad to know i'm still remembered here online - only wish I could get on more often, but falling asleep on the couch after work seems to take up more of my time each day!

25? Really? When I was in the uk - I had my smear at 20

I had cervical cancer over 15 years ago. I can tell you its a very scary place to be and I feel for any woman that goes through this. But, as you can see, it's not always a killer. The thing is to make sure you have your smear tests on a regular basis, and yes, 3 years is too long between tests. It only took 5 months for my cancer to eccelerate, if I hadn't had my smear when I did, then I probably wouldn't be here today. I think the vaccination for girls is a great idea and hopefully this will minimize or eradicate cervical cancer altogether (fingers crossed!).

In my job our bonuses are based on the amount of money our branch makes. If we do over 70% each quarter, then we get a bonus - seems fair to me. Our company is giving the money we would normally spend on Xmas presents for our clients and temps to 2 charities - and they don't seem to mind. I don't know what it's like there in the IOM or UK at present, but there is a lot of redundancy going on and really, I'm just grateful that our branch are not going to restructure (fingers crossed anyway!)

Don't talk to me about milk prices - not to mention bread, butter, cheese, and bloody PETROL!!! If you are thinking about moving to NZ - DON'T. It's unbelievable here right now. This time last year, petrol was running at approx $1.43 per litre, it's now $2.05, milk etc have increased 40% in the past year. The only encouraging thing is house prices are falling (but only if you don't own a house is this encouraging ), then again mortgage interest rates are through the roof! Trust me, you have it better there at the moment, plus we pay up to 39% PAYE on our salaries - (high earners, but my partner and I are currently on 33%, and no so high earners!). The grass is not always greener I can assure you

Hey guyes! Thanks for the birthday cheers. I'm sorry I haven't posted for a while, don't seem to get much time on the pc these days. I had a great birthday, although I was playing netball, got a ball in the face after it bounced of the goal post, resulting in a cut nose and the beginnings of a black eye!!! I'm a bit like the queen this year as I get to open presents the day after so that my niece can "help" me open them. Then on Saturday, we are having a fancy dress party, theme is the 80's, so hopefully i'll have some good photo's for you after that. It's god's way of punishing antipodeans. Amen. Have to agree unfortunately. There's not much Christmas "atmosphere" in the sun. Too hot to eat a hearty chrimbo dinner - so we have cold ham and salad - yummm However, it's pretty cool to be playing with the kids outside, or on the beach - just a bit of a bummer when your xmas decorations on the tree start to melt becuase you have it in the sunniest part of the room! Looking forward to Christmas day with all the family though - that's definitely the best part (apart from the pressies!)

Just thought i'd pop my head in the door to say that today truly was a sign of a great summer ahead! Blue sky, brigh sun, dipped the big toe into the Hunua Falls - brrrrrrrrrr! But great. Oh the dilema! England V SA Really don't want either to win to be honest - am I bitter? Struth Ruth I am - rock on 2011 - were we can choke in our own back yard this time! I'm only sorry it wasn't a France v Argentina final. I don't think I could bear the English winning, i'd never hear the end of it for the next 4 years (or more!), and I guess I should support SA being a Southern Hempishere team but....................... to sound like a 3 year old having a tantrum "I don't want to". Fingers crossed I sleep in and miss it all.

Well, it's a sorry day down here in the place we like to call Godzone. Who would've thought the english would beat the aussies, and without a single try as well - crikey! And who would've thought the All Blacks would've been knocked out in the quarter finals - shocking and shameful. We could've played better admittedly, and the French defence was outstanding, but if anyone knows the address of that bent retarded ref, then let me know - because without a doubt, we would still be in with a chance if it wasn't for 3 incredibly dodgy calls. Am I bitter? Of course I bloody am! But I'm sure i'll get over it, and be all gobby again by the next world cup! So, who's going to win now? SA V Fiji - would love Fiji to make it, but think the boks have the experience over them Argentina v Scotland - think Argentina have a good chance So it's a guessing game for me now. I would love for Fiji to win the whole thing - what a coup that would be (a different coup than they are used to that's for sure!) So, good luck to all the remaining teams!

This is one for the girls........... You just have to read the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich - they are hysterical, and any woman over 30 will truely appreciate them. The first one is called One for the Money, then it's Two for the (something?).... Three for...... and so on - you get the drift. Well, I'm up to Lean Mean Thirteen, and I can't wait to get started on it. I won't really explain what it's about, because it doesn't really sound great when I tell it, you just simply have to read it to understand. If you do take the plunge and give them a go - I have one question for you to answer after you have read the first 3................. Ranger or Morelli???? Hmm tough one - both are mighty fine! I'll keep looking for an update as to who's read them
