  1. The first time i went abroad to Majorca was the best holiday i had.

I thought id hate flying but i loved it and it was a great holiday.

Very good holiday this year in Fuerteventura, probably the best family holiday we've had, although Gran Canaria (peurto rico) a few years ago was also good stuff.

Golfing holiday for a week in Ireland with 7 of us was superb couple of years ago though. Based in large house near Drogheda, had an absolute blast

  2. So how does that square up with:

In a filmed confession shown on an Arabic satellite network last night, Mohammed Siddique Khan, the leader of the July 7 London bombers, explained why he was prepared to die in a suicide attack.

Speaking in English in a pronounced Yorkshire accent, the 30-year-old former teaching assistant from Leeds blamed Britain’s role in the invasion of Iraq for young, British-born Muslims being ready to attack the country of their birth.

    Source: The Times 02-09-2005

yup, you just keep on apologising for these cowardly murderers.

And their justification for the twin towers attack?

Please, get some perspective. The invasion of Iraq, for whatever reason, right or wrong, removed a tyrant that had killed millions of his own people, and ruled by fear. Hmmm, think Mr Muslim, God that makes me angry, those horrible Americans getting rid of that despised leader, lets go and kill some innocent civilians in London as revenge

  3. We dont earn commisions we are sponsored by Ladbrokes and 6 other poker sites due to our recent WSOP 2005 Las Vegas Trip.

cq it out b4 you give your shortsighted opions.

    Manxpoker Crew.

sorry chocolate monkey, but you never hear Ladbrokes being trumpeted as a good room, only those who never play any other site have a high opinion of it. $25 bonus, is that trying to set a record for the worst bonus in the industry, sorry, but before you critisice the German chappie, you should really get your facts straight.
  4. I'm in, if it's in California.

Great! Orange County game, we already have a home game here and you are welcome to join!!

is anyone still interested. We can set up a private tourney on Kiwi Poker via TheHomeofPoker If we get enough interest it can be set up to the spec wanted here? And yes the home of poker is a joint venture between that German chappie and myself, but as no-one has taken this bull by the horns, thought it might as well be me

Ok, no interest after all, we'll drop the subject :(

  5. Thinking of buying a new set of wheels. Getting a great deal on an Alfa 156 Veloce JTD.

Anyone got some good/ bad views or experience with them? I've always been a blue oval boy, but the Alfa looks xxxx hot. (obviously I dont want any German rubbish, so not considering an overpriced Beemer)

  6. Yes, there's lots of fantasy priced places sat on the market. But there's still definately good demand for your 3 bed semis with a garden.
having just left the island, I couldnt agree less. 3 bed-semi, in very good condition, larger than usual rear garden, south facing rear with cons. 9 months on the market, 4 viewers in that time, and eventually took 20k less than CG's valuation. not exactly good demand

  8. Why did the Isle of Man government make the initiative of being an ‘e’ island vanish?

Nothing to do with Manx Telecom that.

I presume you are referring to the e-gaming industry. Quite simply, the Gaming Commission and governemnt officials involved in this area hadn't a clue about the industry, or what was required by the operators to make it work. All that was ever offered was an increasing number of restrictive practices that eventually led to all licensees saying enough is enough, cya later!!

And dont believe the bullxxxx that was peddled recently about the no US play restriction being at the behest of these same licence holders. While it is true that the American companies would not have taken US business anyway, as they had too much to lose in their home market for that, they did not REQUEST that these restrictions were monitored daily with reports being available for the commissioners to inspect at will, and the other companies were under no such restriction but strangely (as there was supposedly no manx directive) also were unable to take US players.

This could have been a multi-million pound industry for the IoM, but it was seriously botched and yet next to nothing has been said about it. Getting MGM and Kerzner to locate in the island was a huge coup, losing them in little over a year was mismanagement on an enormous scale.

  9. How can they obtain 60% increase in profits in the very year they built the new Telecom centre? *

Because OPERATING profit, does not include capital expenditure, the cost of this building will be deferred over a number of years in their capital expenditure, otherwise company results would go up and down like yoyos every year that they did or did not have a large capital project completed

  10. the point is valid nonetheless. I also read that the IoM housing market may well be on course for total collapse with the prospect of the finance sector pulling out over the next 10 years. Any truth in that rumour?

How would anyone know? If you could predict a market with 100% accuracy, you'd be a very rich man.

ah but, is the finance sector withdrawing? That would lead to a pretty easy to predict crash, finance sector pulling out would remove a vast swathe of jobs in the island.
  11. We all know the property market is sunk and it will stay that way for atleast another 5 to 10 years, it is complete madness why anyone would buy a house now.

    Because you need one.

I don't know anyone who has purchased a house in the last 2 years, you need to be earning £45.000 to £50.000 a year to be able to get a house, anyone on that a year i would say 60% of the isle of man aint.

Rot, just take a visit to the general registry, houses are selling, it's just slower at the moment. People still need houses.

the point is valid nonetheless. I also read that the IoM housing market may well be on course for total collapse with the prospect of the finance sector pulling out over the next 10 years. Any truth in that rumour?

  12. Behind every cloud, perhaps...

Kylie Minogue's breast cancer has already increased awareness of the disease, charities said.

The charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer said it had been inundated with calls to its helpline over the last two days. Its website, which contains information about the causes and prevention of breast cancer, received double the number of hits since Kylie's management released her statement.

Some of the callers to its helpline could have been Kylie fans who want to show their support with donations or by organising fund-raising events, a spokeswoman said. Others could have been around Kylie's age and wanted information on how to check their breasts.

Meanwhile, the charity Breast Cancer Care said it received 129 calls to its hotline yesterday, compared with an average of 50-60 a day.

Really very sad, just went to see her at the MEN a few weeks ago (my daughter insisted  ), she was tremendous. Hopefully she'll be fine.

  13. Hi

    I love playing poker online!!

I visited the link for http://www.thehomeofpoker.co.uk/

Seems to have alot of good options and variety. I know some sites will allow people to organize private tournaments, but none that I know of for play money.

Even if it is real money, the tournament structure usually is one buy in price, and then you play until you bust out or win. That way you dont have people tempted to add more money as the go and regret it perhaps later.

I have seen poker sites online arrange for private, invite only, tournaments for as low as a $10 US (5?) buy in. Then there are no more costs after the buy in and that keeps it low risk for those that are new to real money play, or those who have the goal of play for fun.

Some groups donate the winner's money to a charity even. The goal with those tournaments is to win for bragging rights.

Alot of sites have "freerolls" everyday. Which is a large first come first serve free tournament. A good way to get your feet wet.

Playing online is so different than face to face because it makes it so hard to "read" your opponent, especially if they do not chat. I try to watch their style of play and see what pattern or weakness is there, but it is still hard.

Nice thing about online play is that no one knows I am female, therefore I don't have that hassle to deal with.

    Lila

Yes, you're right Lila, most sites will accomodate a group, especially if they can bring a large number. Paradise are good for that, the only problem there being that the cash games are very tight so not the best site for beginners if they want to change over to these later.

Ladbrokes is pretty poor, those of you starting out want to be getting decent bonuses to help build the bankroll, Ladbrokes are very poor in this area.

I would recommend Celeb poker for new players, the standard of play on there is awful, and they have a couple of daily freerolls that do not get thousands of players.

The Gaming Club and Poker 333 also do 4 $1000 freerolls daily, trouble being the vast numbers of players playing these. Sometimes over 10,000
