  1. Looking at the date of issue it's almost... 2 weeks old.
  2. Censorship has already pointed out about the Minister calculations. In addition, there won't be a Minister for Social Security - this will be the responsibility of the Treasury Minister. What's interesting is the potential for a Ministry of Justice - which I presume would be in addition to the Department of Home Affairs, taking the total back up to 9.
  3. Whilst we won't want money spending on white elephants - just how long is this part of Douglas going to remain a dump? It's an embarrassment. Everyone says the entire area needs developing, but nothing ever gets off the ground (literally!).
  4. I haven't been in for years but agree it looks grim - you should email head office and tell em. Still amazed we have no McDonalds, Burger King or Starbucks on Strand Street.
  5. Where on Earth did you lift that figure from?
  6. http://www.manxradio.com/newsread.aspx?id=67295 So DHA build a Police Station, now want to shut it down and presumably have it demolished after only 10 years, and then want to open another one? Oh and also £3.5m please because we're closing our Douglas Police Stations and centralising it all at HQ?
  7. That's an absolute disgrace Albert - Anderson should be sacked immediately for undemocratically removing long established services but at the same time [presumably] benefiting himself from the country care scheme Meanwhile Bell attacks 'backbenchers with career ambitions' http://www.energyfm.net/cms/news_story_278603.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter As Roger Mexico points out - you both need to check your facts!
  8. To be fair, it's not the most self explanatory to topic titles...
  9. I don't know anything about this character but a high capacity hotel in Port Erin would be a very good thing. Not everyone wants to stay in a horrible town like Douglas. If they need a hotel in Port Erin couldn't they build it in the Hotel shaped hole on the Prom, rather than on some rocks only accessible by boat and tiny footpath. But that would mean another bland set of apartments couldn't be thrown up in place of a grand Victorian building...
  10. http://www.manxradio.com/newsread.aspx?id=66984 Shame It's not so bad now that The Palace has finally invested in new chairs, but more screens are definitely called for IMHO, and the entire Palace site needs pulling down and starting over - its an eyesore. But with Lord Street and Summerland vacant, it's pie in the sky thinking - I guess we waved goodbye to that one. Master plan anyone? Jersey's Cineworld has ten screens I believe? Then again they also have 5 star hotels and Michelin Star restaurants.
