  1. 3 points have come out this thread. The public haven't got the slightest clue about how much of their tax payer funds are being spent on the event, due to lack of disclosed information and lack of oversight. Elements of the public (judging by the shower on this forum) just don't give a toss how much the event costs, possibly because they gain directly from it or are involved directly in it. Lastly, the public will never know how much the event is costing them, because I'm willing to bet no-one in a position to ask the question would dare put their neck on the line, because I imagin
  2. But at least I am asking, where as it seems several forum residents are happy to live in blissful ignorance. But you're not asking anyone who could possibly give you an answer are you? People on this forum seem very interested when Pinewood was supposedly draining the public coffers. People on this forum seemed very upset about the Sefton and public money being involved. Mount Murray, etc, etc. Hell we even had a 100+ page thread about some bloke throwing up on a bus.... You mention the TT and all of a sudden no-one seems to give a fuck....
  3. Says the poster who wrongly claimed that bullfighting had been banned in Spain. And I was corrected using easily available information. Care to share the wealth of factual information you have pertaining to the actual costs of the TT?
  4. Agreed, you cant make the TT safe but I think they should at least remove some of the more dangerous parts that make bikes airborne. Doing so can only help the safety of the riders. But then where would the excitement be? Where would the fans get there "cheated death" performances?
  5. Judging by some of the outstanding driving (/sarcasm) I have seen over the last few days (in and around Douglas), I would have to disagree with you...

  7. But you have no way to substantiate your belief, for all you know it costs £35 million....but then the apathy I am seeing from some posters... However anyone who complains about government spending or a public service being cut because there isn't enough funds, yet supports the TT (despite not having the faintest idea what it actually costs) is a bloody fool. Its not like the Island is down the financial toilet or anything.....oh wait....
  8. Well they aren't called the Tickle Squad for a reason.... Why do people in uniform lock citizens up if they use force, but citizens are expected to admire people in uniform who use force? A citizen who uses force is a criminal, but someone wearing a uniform gets called a hero. I didn't realise that criminals follow rules of engagement, the Geneva Convention or are acting with Parliamentary Authority....

  10. And I'm asking you, without an FOI to force a response, do you genuinely think I would get a meaningful response? You answer my question and I'll answer yours. Answering questions with questions, are you a politician? No I haven't. And I'm guessing your response will justify why I haven't
  11. I imagine some Spanish people said the same about Bull Fighting before it was banned....
  12. And I'm asking you, without an FOI to force a response, do you genuinely think I would get a meaningful response?
  13. Not sure what you had been smoking when you typed that... What about birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, hell what about the birth of a grandchild... Like I said, given a choice between a dead father and a live one......
  14. Without a FOI, how much of a genuine response do you think I'll get?
  15. If you say so. It's a shame your accountant wasn't so specific about the motorsports culture on the island when he was telling you about the tax rates. You presume so much.... What I can't presume to understand, is for someone to move to the road racing capital of the world & complain about........ road racing!!!! Unless that person is motivated by something that is noted for not buying happiness, as you are clearly not happy with the place, given the relentless whinging you do in your posts. Why don't you fuck off & buy a house next to an airport, then you'd have something t
  16. I resent that! My response was perfectly reasonable given that MDO trolls with the same kind of shit every fucking year! Simply because the TT [of which I am not a fan!] happens to inconvenience him personally, he tries to garner support for ending it with a series of such threads every fucking year! "My response was perfectly reasonable given that MDO trolls with the same kind of shit every fucking year!" - Maybe if we had a sensible conversation about something that effects everyone on the island, that didn't descend into the usual shit flinging but the TT faithful...I wouldn't have
  17. And....there we go. Does it not concern you one little bit that the TT could be literally costing millions of pounds that the IOM can scarcely afford to be wasting? Out of interest Matt, get any over time this TT fortnight?
  18. That is the selfish attitude that pisses me off. The fuck anyone else who might have to deal with the aftermath of my actions... Do you have kids Silentbob? Nope, and the people who have to 'deal' with the aftermath of these things are people who have signed up and get paid to do so. You do not take a job in the Road Traffic Police, Ambulance service or Fire Brigade without knowing that RTCs/Racing accidents and myriad of other accidents involving machinery etc where the 'aftermath' is less than pretty may occur. My point is, we can wrap ourselves in cotton wool and just wa

  20. Stop being deliberately obtuse. Stop trying to justify the TTs existence based on the poor business choices of private individuals....
  21. There goes the "chopper" over head again....just racking up the pounds. Lets look at this another way. Surely the TT fund from the Governement is budgeted? How hard would it be for them to release that figure?
  22. No, it just shows that places like that wouldn't survive without the TT. So we should keep the TT (regardless of whether it actually makes a return on the investment) because someone built a pub in the arse end of nowhere?
  23. But doesn't that just go to show that the Creg is running on a poor business model? How exactly do they change that model? Transport the whole building to somewhere else more popular for 50 weeks? Mothball the place from September to May? I'm sure all these things have been thought about. Perhaps the owners like a quiet life for most of the year with a fortnight's mayhem in the middle. Bit like being an orthopaedic surgeon doing trauma on the Isle of Man! They chose to build in the arse end of nowhere...why should that be a taxpayer concern?
