  1. Its to cool a CO2 laser. Water having amazing thermal properties, The laser tube has Aluminium parts that come in contact with the coolant and then there is the coolant pump... I'm not sure what metals that has inside but I'm not taking any risks. Other than that it seems most of the coolants loop is plastic and rubber. Just need a large volume of distilled water and then we can get cutting... its been 3 weeks just looking at the damn machine and not getting a single chance to play with it yet. Being stuck on a island does cause a lot of problems for my hobdies WOW............makes my pillar drill seem just a bit obsolete. You cant work metal on our laser cutter or drill holes/square up taps/reworks large parts. If someone would sell me a garage i would throw a pillar drill right in there. Shame there is no market for 2nd hand british machines on this island EDIT - The laser cutter is being operated in my friends spare bedroom. I convinced my dad to let me set up a lathe in his garage after selling my motor bike but wont let me put a mill in. Just cant find a garage
  2. A friend got in touch and told me he had a small distilling machine from ebay. 4L in less than 6 hours. Was a route i could take but getting 25L of medical grade sealed and shipped to my door was what i was after. Guess its plan B if all else fails.
  3. Its to cool a CO2 laser. Water having amazing thermal properties, The laser tube has Aluminium parts that come in contact with the coolant... Won't de-ionised (and polished) water (<0.05uS/cm-2) be fine for that??? de-ionised water is highly corrosive to metals... been advised not to let it near anything metal Will chase up anyone who faffs with steam turbines and see what they have to say cheers buddy

  5. I might have got the wrong end of the stick, but I'm not sure that's what Dilligaf meant. I see your point but in a strange twist distilled water is used in some brewing processes. Although i think its used where local tap water is ass and i think our water is rather yummy.
  6. I have a dehumidifier but the water that comes from it has all sorts of metallic elements in it plus its sat open to the air for a good while. I just want someone to chuck a 25L sealed container of medical grade at me for a price. EDIT - Same goes for rain water
  7. I need 25L of it. Distilled water is not the same as de-ionized unfortunately so BnQ, Motoworld/ every petrol station do not sell it. Dilligaf you are my hero! I believe they use it to brew IPA so i think you might have saved the day. Will give them a call tomorrow cheers
  8. I could be mistaken but after running about the island for the past week or so I still have not come across distilled water. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some? Have been emailing water companies in England but no one will give me a quote for the island Its driving me insane!

    Oculus rift

Isn't the rift meant to be worn without glasses anyway? I thought they came with screw in lenses. Though, fun fact re: the DK2, it uses the screen from a Galaxy Note 3, digitizer still attached and everything There is replacement lens to help but it doesn't work for everyone. Plus having to pop lens cups out for each person to try will increase the risk of scratches and dirt. My eyes are not perfectly round and so I need glasses to currect this too. Once these head mounted display s overcome the what my eyes can see I'm going for laser surgury. VR for me is the next step in my adventures

    Oculus rift

Im also happy to bring one down to the hack space thing too. Im just a lil worried about the optics getting scratched with peoples glasses. I hear they are as soft as cheese

Hey spanna Status:PROCESSING:Your order has been checked out for shipping and will be shipped in the next batch. We'll send you a notification once it's shipped. Looks like i will be getting a DK2 rather soon if you wanna come check it out? I did have a DK1 but sold it to buy a 2nd DK2 as im trying to get my friends into building some multiplayer / user content in Unity game engine.
  12. Future man who cant do simple math sorry. Try your best to forget that 450 coins from the miner. Its actually 20 coins profit so i would still be doing my 9-5 and hating every second of it. Thanks for calling me a man anyway!
  13. You guys make me laugh. I was going to buy a miner a few months back that would have cost me $6000. It would have been delivered in Jan and going off its power and the current difficulty as it stands it would produce 450 coins. It can make 350 by March. I would have retired. I cashed in my silver to buy one of these machines but unfortunately when it came to the purchase i wimped out. Is mining profitable ? I say yes! i also use bitcoins daily to buy stuff. Me and my friends pay each other in BTC if we dont have cash handy. A chum buys you your chippy dinner and you just transfer him the bitcoins over your mobile. I just dont get the negativity towards bitcoins though. It reminds me back in the day when i had to phone a company in the UK with my computers modem to get onto the web. If this was mentioned in conversation then i would only hear how the internet is aiding criminals... teaching them how to make bombs bla bla bla. Now its bit coins. I'm amazed that we even had criminals back in those good old days hey... i mean without the internet ... without bitcoins how did they cope? Just got a 3D printer a few weeks ago too...lets just leave it there. L2BTC
  14. I do X-clamp replacements and reflow the solder. Good for the ol 3 rings of death.... Thing is a friends egg box video would not output to the TV but the sound would. I told him to try using the VGA cable and it worked... if its a plasma/lcd tv i would try and borrow a VGA... if it works you can buy a 25 quid VGA cable rather than a MS 50 quid fix If you want the x-clamp replacement i will do it for 20 quid
  15. Beat me to it Is the 60nm chips feature reduced in anyway ? I know the ps3 cut out the backwards compat to reduce costs ? what ya say Animal
