  1. As title, cheap PC or laptop required, not to fussed on specs, PM with what you have please. Thanks,
  2. They all started out deristricted, they must have their reasons for changing them to 50mph limits.
  3. I see, that makes sense, thank you for explaining
  4. Hard to read but I assume thats the idea, very true aswell!
  5. Eh?, I haven't heard of that one before?, if it has UK plates and a valid UK tax disc surely you can drive it?

If you could get a venue to accommodate the loud music and orange women with a large quiet 'chillout' room to the side I think it might work, because I like the nightclub atmostphere at times, but I don't like not being able to talk to someone i'm standing next to, the only place to talk to someone is outside, the smoking area or the toilets! Thats my take on it, there is no reason not to reserve Fridays for the dj's and Saturdays for the 70's classics or whatever, although I do fall on the under 30 bracket I'd go to both!
  8. Its the same tried and tested method used anywhere in the UK built pre 1930's , the Manx just took longer (a lot longer!!) to adopt the use of brick, but I would like to bet a stone building would last longer than any brick building.

    Depends on the venue?.......
  10. I probably average closer to 37-38mpg overall, average is 40mpg in car and 35mpg in my van, but yes it looks like my figures may be slightly wrong then!! cheers! Then why you paying £510 a year in tax for something that's doing around 40mpg? Sorry but it does not make sense. At that sort of mpg it's probably a diesel and the fuel cost is probably another 8/10p a litre in that case so my figures above go up again. A lot of Manx driving is round town and therefore 30 mpg is about right as a base for calculations. My van is a 2.5td, 35mpg average, I have two cars, both have 1.

  12. I pay £510 in road tax and cover around 9000 miles a year, that equates to around 17p a mile?.....
  13. Its doubtful it came over empty so it has probably paid for itself, secondly its mezeron who normally deal with containers and they're cheaper than steam packet.....
  14. Think i'd be worse off if it actually equates to 20p more a litre, but if it ever happened i'd just run SVO or bio-fuel.
  15. Thats harsh, putting a photo up just for a public order offence, so what was it?....shouting, swearing?, taking a piss in public?....begging?...
  16. Quite romantic, should be easy enough to add an " 're "
  17. Contents insurance?, they'll probably write it off and give you something similar.
  18. Well it depends what you class as Iconic, I thought the Grand Island Hotel was iconic but that was knocked down, I thought Castle Mona Hotel was iconic, that was closed down and is rotting away (give it another 5-10 years and it'll be flats), from the pictures the lido & palace looked iconic, I though The Venue was iconic, Marine biology lab in Port Erin?.......Derby Castle I could go on......
  19. I thought Dandara already owned it?.... Anyway, how many more iconic buildings will be lost on this Island?, its a shame nobody seems to give two shits that soon the island will have nothing to offer other than 'luxury' shoebox apartments that nobody asides from millionaires can afford!
  20. Just paid £33 for my winter gas bill, the standing charge is ridiculous though, £10 a month!
  21. Please tell me I read that wrong!
  22. Agree with this ^ , he was pushing a new car to the limits and misjudged them. I think all that will happen is he will need to be retrained on a training course, barely a newsworthy story!

    Road Tax Up

Further to my previous rant, If the roads were in half decent nick I wouldn't mind paying extra, the most fustrating part of this is knowing the DOI can lay decent tarmac when they want too, Jonny Watersons lane is still smooth 3 (nearly 4!?) years later, yet Richmond hill was nicer beforehand (IMO) and stray off onto the port soderick back road and you'll have a shock, its bloody horrendous!, Ramsey via Laxey is just as bad, parts of the mountain road aren't fantastic either (for what is supposed to be a road race track, i'm surprised we don't see big wobbles at 170mph!)

    Road Tax Up

I have reported a couple of the deep pot holes, because they would have someone off their bike, but the smaller pot holes and drain covers sticking up I just try and take avoiding action, Santon straight would be a good example of this, every drain cover either sticks up too high or too low!

    Road Tax Up

FFS! An increase of £10.92 on my van and £7.74 on each car, In total this year i'll have to pay £26.40 extra in road tax, for what exactly?, every time I drive I seem to hit a new pothole thats formed because of a badly resufaced piece of road in the first place. Are they going to pay for the damage caused to my vehicles? perhaps this is the reason I see so many cars & vans untaxed on manx roads?
