  1. A lot of the caches along there are just mini caches ie pieces of paper in a camera film canister. My daughter loves caches with swaps. Archellagan is really good for those. Also found a trackable up at the point of Ayre that started in the States
  2. I too have been inside the house. It's main raison d'etre I think was to house his clocks. It's beautiful inside and out and set at a fabulous vantage point. I was lucky enough to be there for a charity event and spent a large portion of the time stood upstairs, outside on the roof on a warm summers evening. If I had the money I'd buy the place
  3. Might be the cost of upkeep on an ageing system. Is it predominantly voice systems on ISDN these days. It's the big push towards VOIP etc

    Kimi......Sauber ???????
  5. £500k, it was a lot more than that
  6. As I stated.....it was a rumour...not fact that I could substantiate.
  7. One fact and one rumour for you . With regards to the entertainment outside the HR tent (stuntbikes,Purple helmets etc) this was all funded by HR. They paid for the entertainment to come over and provided beer/donations to the Purple Helmets. That's the facts over with. Now the rumour.........Bushys were give £100k to help setup their village in the Villa.......
  8. If the weather had been bad like previous years, how many punters would have stood outside at the Villa and how many would have been in the dry at the bottleneck carpark ? Many different variables have played here, but the punters have won in the end. The HR site was originally designed completely differently to the tent that was put there but there was mis-communication in the planning department and Health & Safety so the plan was stalled until rescued at the eleventh hour. It was then too late to do the original plan so they had to go to a backup. In the meantime the brewery looked at the HR plans and nicked it to create their new format at the grandstand .....
  9. Perhaps they have a different date on their contract ? Maybe they don't have to be out for a few days ?
  10. I'm only going by what Google told me....... How to get the Red Arrows to your event
  11. Regarding the cost of the display to the requester (ie the IOM Government), a figure of around £9000 is the current asking price. The team can receive upwards of 400 requests a year for a display and are only able to do around a quarter of them due to time constraints
  12. ..and whilst it was all tied up in planning H&B looked at the plans that HR submitted, thought "Ooohh, those containers look like a good idea" and submitted a reduced idea for the Grandstand. Now, if HR want to do their original idea next year people are just going to assume that they're copying H&B !
  13. Actually not true down at HR. 4 out of the top 5 (including one's wife) are putting in 12 to 14 hour days down at the tent doing everything from moving rubbish bins to sweeping up and restocking the bars

    TT 2018

1st counter-clockwise return that I remember was after David Jeffries' accident in 2003. I was at the QB with family and it was eerie to watch a slow procession of bikes going back to the Grandstand up Quarterbridge Road....
  15. In this day and age unless you're really ham-fisted , break things inside and force connectors into places that they don't belong then manufacturers allow customers to go inside laptops as it's cheaper than having an engineer do a repair. Dell ,for example, have asked little old ladies to go and find a suitable small screwdriver and remove the base plastics from a laptop to check hard disk connectors and reseat DIMMs (true story that happened locally). If you think you can do it yourself then just do so. Just make sure you have the correct size screwdrivers and understand how the different types of connector inside work. (some are easy to break when you think they should pull away from the connector when a flap actually lifts up, etc,etc
  16. Your right about the reg... it was registered in Austria to Laudamotion on 27/4/17...
  17. If it was registered in the IOM why has it got a "G" reg, not an "M" ?
  18. Apparently he's made $400,000,000 from that phrase !!! Surely that's not right (info from BBC podcast)
  19. There should be a sticker on the underneath which has a windows licence key written on it and a version of the operating system. Which OS does it mention
  20. I buy EE 4G sims in Tesco when across. In August they were selling sims for £1 that had 1Gb of data on. You could just keep buying those instead of topping them up
  21. Went for a sit down meal in Fryers on Tuesday evening and was very happy with the quality of food and the service. There were 5 adults and 2 kids. All our meals were piping hot, freshly made to order. My wife had scampi and actually said she would have been happy with a portion half the size that she was given. I had battered haggis which was very nice. Others had fish or fish bites and there were no complaints. As it was my daughter's birthday we took a cake and candles along with us, checked with the staff that it was OK to have after the meal and they even brought extra plates and serviettes for us. All in all, very good. We shall be back for more of your fare.
  22. You're making Living Hope sound a bit like this

    Samphire Closed?

I agree that the food and staff were exceptional but the only downside was that the way it was furnished it tended to be very echo-y when there were a lot of noisy people in there. Twice we had meals in there when there were large parties in celebrating something and our table of 4 couldn't hear each other due to the noise. Shame it's closed though
  24. My daughter is in the largest class at Scooil Vallajeelt, which is 34 strong.(Actually it might be 36 now iirc) Most other classes aren't nearly that size, but I'm not sure just how big they are. Apparently there are in the region of 15 rooms available of which about 9 are currently being used. The school will be given the budget of both schools so will benefit in that respect. New equipment can be purchased, facilities upgraded and socially the kids will benefit by having more people to play and learn with. As previous posters have said, a portion of the kids at St Thomas' are there for convenience of location, not for religious beliefs and so will probably not move to Saddlestone. My wife has spoken to the Head mistress and also to some of the mothers about this at great lengths and , now she has more details, thinks it's a good idea..
