  1. The Information Commissioner has imposed a penalty of £170,500 (One hundred and seventy thousand and five hundred pounds) on Manx Care for infringements of the data protection legislation. The maximum penalty that can be imposed is £1M. In October 2021, Manx Care emailed an insecure attachment containing one patient’s confidential health data to more than 1870 recipients. Manx Care was subject to an Enforcement Notice at that time and a further Enforcement Notice was issued in February 2022. Manx Care has failed to comply with those Enforcement Notices which has led to the penalty notice. https://www.inforights.im/organisations/latest-news-updates/2022/aug/penalty-imposed-on-manx-care/
  2. All of your points are factual, but can I add some construcive criticism? For a variety of historical and current (e.g. legacies) reasons, the charities are wealthy and want to spend money on their charitable objective, which is the Cottage. In my view, they - in collusion with the local GPs until a few years ago (one of whom was Sideshow Bob) - they have started to see it as their hospital to do with as they see fit. Money has been thrown at the place and all sorts of kit and caboodle has been bought. As far as I know, the problem is that there has never been a strategic plan for the unit, and so everything in its links with Noble's is completely disjointed. To my mind, that is a recipe for waste, and if a health service wastes money, those funds cannot be spent on care. I should add that one oif the charities has for many years been the personal fiefdom of one Leonard Singer. Remember him? Enough said...

Isn't there something in the Judaeo-Christian tradition about lying being a sin?

  6. Members with better knowledge can correct me, but I think that there is an electricity interconnector between the island and the UK. When we have surplus generating capacity, we can sell power to the UK at spot market prices. I assume that we can also buy if the circumstances are right.

One thing that struck me when looking at the architects' drawings is that the proposed building is staggeringly ugly. While we need new investments, shouldn't aesthetics come into the equation too?
  8. Apologies - guilty as charged on that one RM.
  9. Plus, wasn't it Jonathan Smalley who had one his employees nick a cool million squid or so from the client account? That guy was nicked while hidind behind a bed in a house in Port Erin if memory serves me well.

  12. Tim has only come back because he likes the higher earnings in Tynwald and the sense of importance that being an MHK provides. He will not have gone willingly, therefore. In a UK context, this sort of drama normally comes from a scandal associated with the person who is fired (public or about to become so) or a major falling out with the PM. Could Timbo be involved in a scandal? I doubt that. As earlier posts hinted, it is probably about collective responsibility and wanting to speak against a CoMin decision - sewage works have my vote too.
  13. Have you never seen the Stella Awards? Truly awesome cases.
  14. Yes, salaried union geezer
  15. He's not public sector, he's a union geezer - the one who succeeded the flame-haired Miss Muffet at Prospect.
  16. With 1000s of public servants, the churn rate will be be a significant number every month. I, for one, find it very hard to believe the pay out figure. It wouldn't surprise me if they paid that to Greenhow alone to get him to walk without a fuss.
  17. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/staffing-constraints-blamed-for-flight-disruption/ Could the new boss be starting a policy of honesty? The stats at the end about evening extensions are interesting. I'm not positive about the current mess, but we have to accept that it's not all caused by Ronaldsway.
  18. Almost certainly Jon Callister, head of the Office of Human Resources. He and Will Greenhow were close personal friends of Mary Williams, and most people that I have ever talked to think that they got their jobs at the top as a result. Callister, for example, was not an HR professional.
  19. I think that there is a standard panel for chief exec positions - departmental minister, head of public service commission and chief secretary. On that panel, Mr Toad was health minister. Still - two politicians on a panel of three means that mistakes may happen.

  21. Quirkio is a few quivers on the dial above brain dead, so we can't be too surprised at the shite he spouts. Also, don't forget which constituency he represented!

  23. I know that I have always referred to this odious politician as the Boy Vampire, but in view of how his head appears to have been growing vertically (look at that new photo), perhaps he might actually be one of the Aliens?
  24. Return of Mad Uncle Ronnie under a new name?
  25. Well that's complete bollocks. Plus, there is an interesting document called the Employment Act.
