Her answer the magic electric fairy's and elves will of sorted that out before it comes to pass.

That’s her role though to basically invent science fiction as the solution to everything - 100% imaginary solutions for everything that needs to be fixed in order for us to claim to be ‘sustainable’. Her role is basically to spout bullshit.

They're still employing the same staff to collect the same bins using the same vehicles.

That’s what people don’t get. Unless these people are being re-charged back out to another contract somewhere else which pays DBC then they and the vehicles they use are a DBC fixed cost. It doesn't matter whether they’re emptying bins daily, weekly or monthly - the fixed costs will be roughly the same bar a bit of extra diesel usage. So how can fortnightly be saving any real money? The only possible savings can be on gate fees as they’re linked to frequency of loads picked up as everything else is basically fixed cost.

I'd be shocked - shocked I tell ya - if he'd have sold just that corner. Doesn't make sense when it's so linked to the old Ram Pub.

Pretty sure he owns the entirety of the office block there, Anglo, SMP's old offices and Hansards old ones (no idea of names of the buildings).

I think you’re right. And the old flats across the road next to the Railway and the JTC and Portofino units in Quay West.

They must have a fair amount of capital behind them to buy that unit, surprised Raj sold a part of the larger site which may make it less attractive if he wants to sell

I’d be surprised if he had as he’s also one of the backers behind the Hubb development of the old Anglo House so he owns most of the block.

A far as I can see there's no cogent argument for the change.

There isn’t a cogent argument at all as most people are now working out. It’s a half assed attempt to dress up cost savings as a recycling initiative. If it was about recycling then they’d have upped their game in several areas rather than be so lazy and half assed with it all.

I have t read it, but surely there aren’t many ways you can misspell Frank?

It is very odd that someone claims that they don’t like the publicity around something but their biggest objection to the publicity seems to be that their name is spelled wrongly. As Oscar Wilde said: there is only one thing worse than being talked about. And that is not being talked about.

Given the numerous operations and services the IOMPO runs, I don’t get the impression it’s over managed, but of course I could be wrong. Who is making the allegations? Is it that bloke down the pub who didn’t get one of the jobs he’s now saying is unnecessary?

The photos of your IOM Post induction course have just come through.

Well quite, but it would be quite difficult to draw up an ASBO.  Tell him to stop dumping them in one street and he'll just dump them elsewhere, as he already seems to have started to do.  Unfortunately you can't draw up an ASBO that says "Stop being a dick", you need to be more specific.

I’d have thought an ASBO might be able to prescribe how many cars he’d be allowed to own and tax at one time. The man is clearly a serial pest. He’s not really that much different to the pissed bloke who is up every 3 months for wasting the time of the 999 service.

Considering the activities of several Douglas Councillors on social media what do you believe these people should or should or shouldn’t doing on social media in comparison?

But nobody posts letters any more (I posted my first of 2022 on Wednesday) so it’s having to shift more to parcels and introducing new methods of business like online postage and doorstep collections or drop boxes, all the time competing with a gig economy paying no real tax/NI contributions and where the operators have no employment benefits or significant regulation.

FFS you’ve already been brainwashed by the “gig economy” nonsense as well. That is not the reason why the IOM PO can’t make any money. This is the man who announced on here a few years back that he wouldn’t buy Manx milk for his coffee shop as it was too expensive.

I don’t know what you think is “proper wine” but again that was OK but expensive. You can get a “ proper” wine in Brewery pubs,or indeed any independent restaurant at a dining out market price.

No you can only get “terrible wine” in most brewery pubs for about £3 a glass more than it’s worth.

I thought IOM government mortgaged it a few years ago.

Sold to IOM Bank for £45,000,000 in 2004 and again in 2019 for £25,724,562. It is now owned by RBS International.

It was a sale and 25 year lease back arrangement. Presumably so that IOMG could get £45M back to piss away somewhere else. I think the second transaction is simply to do with something internal when the IOM Bank shifted the loan book to Jersey.

Reading between the lines she sort of admitted that the plebs shouldn't have cars and should rely on the bus oh and electric scooters!

The whole thing was ridiculous and just shows how out of touch she is opining on a load of pie in the sky dreams emanating from her and cabinet office.

Give the girl a break, FFS!

When she was in Tourism Dept, under the (self-styled ) Minister of Fun, she brought Top Gear to the IOM, and. .  and. .  and ...  (wait for itI)  she once saw David Bowie, on Pulrose Bridge!

😂I’m tired of hearing her pretentious bullshit. The only reason she seems to have got the job is that 1. Alf couldn’t find anywhere else to put her and 2. She owns an electric car. That’s the sum total of all that’s needed for a £70k a year final salary pension job talking bollocks about things that will never happen.

On Manx Radio today Mrs Caine was challenged about various climate reports. Her response showed no objectivity at all and it is clear to me she will waste £millions of taxpayers money blindly following her own personal beliefs.

Do-gooder Daphne talked a load of absolute shite. You are right there is no point in having a climate change board because this is all about her silly beliefs and her completely blinkered view on what needs to be done. All she’s going to do this term is sit there and spew out the same load of old crap she believes in while tangibly doing nothing.

The biggest issue with the new arrangement is not making it work but the lazy tossers not trying and just dumping their stuff in other peoples bin.

But this was ways going to happen. I could have told you that this would happen because it’s what happens in the UK when local councils do this. Pathetic rules create equally pathetic behaviour.

I thought this single occupancy was supposed to be going through?

Also could anyone explain why l pay two lots of rates one to Onchan the other l think is to Government/ Douglas? It makes my rate bill higher than a member of my family who has a family of 5 much larger house and actually pays much less than l do, and now they have the cheek to inform us today via Manx radio they intend to increase this quite considerably as l understand it!

One is normally domestic rates, the other water and utilities.
