Has he really quit or is he just asking for public donations for a sponsored job change? Strange though it may it seem to someone steeped in local culture, there ARE places where people who have genuine ability and qualities of leadership will be properly appreciated without even have to lick the boots of well-connected time-servers filling in the time before piggy-pension time - you know, like someone who has managed to take a charity that was almost on its arse and turn it into such a success that powerful people felt compelled to bring it to heel?

I can only assume that CBman and hillshepherd suffered a severe lack of oxygen at birth.

You appear to ignore the fact - reiterated several times - that CC's 'profit' is reinvested in local projects to help local children. St C's simply goes to the UK. Just imagine how those who've praised the government for choosing efficient use of funds if it turns out that CC's bid was actually £500,000 or so cheaper!
  5. "I'm going to create man and woman with original sin. Then I'm going to impregnate a woman with myself as her child, so that I can be born in human form. Once alive, I will kill myself as a sacrifice to myself. So I'll save you from the sin I originally condemned you to. Ta dah!" God - master of logic since the beginning of time.
  6. They're both Manx registered charities. Although it only takes a quick check to see which one sends £2M -odd per year to its UK organisation.
  7. No offence intended, but you really a stupid and cunt, Sick Moon. Why don't you fuck off and watch some motorcycle crashes so you have something to masturbate to?
  8. Bastard! I had to ring him after seeing that! He hadn't read it because he isn't even bothering to 'lurk' here much anymore. He said it's as likely as the pope pissing on the crowd from the balcony of St Peters!
  9. In other news: The forum member known as 'The Border Terrier' has refused to let any Evertonians walk his dogs - as they clearly can't hold on to a lead.
  10. It’s a mixture of text, pictures and video. Watch it. Read it. Feel utterly humbled by the wisdom and forgiving nature of people who suffered more than any of us can possibly know. Feel uplifted by the thought that you belong to the same species as these wonderful people "Americans are not to blame, the war is to blame. People's unwillingness to understand those with different values - that's to blame." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/2014/newsspec_8079/index.html
  11. An Englishman's home is his castle - and a hell of a lot of them seem to have moats to prove it nowadays.
  12. Only if there is lamb on the menu Has Quilp been studying TJ's posts and learning to ignore questions? [posts 57 & 58]
  13. Chomsky's theories of generative grammar have now been largely eclipsed by cognitive-functional linguists and the theory that the structure of language is created by its use and that the concept of an LAD (language acquisition device) is not supported by evolutionary anthropology. Although Chomsky's theory may sound impressive, it requires an extraordinary number of hypothetical constructs and modern linguists studying children - such as Melissa Bowerman, Anat Ninio, Michael Ramscar and many others - have argued in favour of a general cognitive learning apparatus rather than Chomsky's 'inborn capabilities.'
