  1. Didn't "Miracles Eddie" forecast a 6% annual rise in the local economy during his Feb 2012 Budget Speech? I wish I lived on his planet......then again, maybe not.....
  2. Not least because it will undoubtably be fought, tooth and nail, by every Government employee (and their unions) likely to be even remotely affected......?
  3. Why, in the Internal Fund Generator of course, Eddie's made it clear all along.........
  4. No I'm not. But I certainly can't think of anybody I know of who is, at the moment. Can you? And certainly not for the months at a time that some of these PS take off (on full, then reduced pay) with the malaise....
  5. I don't think it's a "middle-management" issue. "Stress" appears to be a strange, non-discriminatory disease that apparently knows no boundaries. Think of some of those who've suffered currently and in the recent past: Attorney Generals (allegedly) Chief Constables Prison Governesses Other Senior and Rank and File Police Officers Senior and Rank and File Civil Servants Rank and File Social Workers Rank and File Health Workers In fact the only common denominator that could possibly be applied is that all these people afflicted are Public Sector employees entitled to generous, long term sickness pay.....
  6. And a major reduction in the size of the bloated slug that is IoM Govt. Then we might have something like a viable economic model for the future. The VAT scam income that supported our current model that Bell is so desperately trying to eke out is GONE........
  7. Local Architects - seems like a small part of a bigger scheme, lets hope its no white and red elephant http://www.csarc.im/InPlanning.aspx Well, if that projection is true, they appear to have something of a fixation with concrete cubes........
  8. That'll be the "Stress" disease then.........
  9. The reefer probably fell out of his mouth when he nodded off......
  10. But it's bound to be an excellent vehicle for the exchange of large brown envelopes in respect of the proposed plot.......
  11. And since when have these points/issues have been of concern to IoM Govt...............?
  12. I think it would be fair to say that in the late-80's/early-90's (Donald Gelling era), the Govt used the increasing of Public Sector pay rates as a means of dragging many Private Sector payrates up by the bootstraps - many private sector operations still paid poverty wages even when the Island's economy had been on the up for some time. I can certainly remember the "Don" announcing that, "We've got the pay issue sorted out" on MR. The likes of the CS might have been seen as the "low-pay" safe option for a long time - but they were the first to benefit from the pay increase policy.
  13. Such as the rape of the "protected" scallop beds off Kirk Michael a couple of years back when Gawne and the other DAFF clowns effectively announced a free-for-all to the Scottish and Irish fleets? If your post is true BR, is there ANY END to the incompetence and ineptitude of the PRICKS that run this Island.........?
  14. I think it's a huge, fortified fence to keep Homarus and his ilk out of the Nunnery river........!!
  15. Who was it that introduced "Consultants" onto the IoM and let the bastards spread like vermin.........?
  16. I'm fairly sure that Rights of Way maintenance such as clearing and cutting of grass was one of the first casualties of DOI cutbacks, maybe as long ago as a couple of years? Some of the stuff I've walked recently certainly hasn't been cut back for a good long while, it certainly hasn't reached that stage of overgrown in just one season anyway. On a similar point though the DAFF (or whatever they are now) have been out doing a lot of clearing work on the likes of the Lhergy Frissel footpaths and banks below the Albert Tower in Ramsey....so they are doing something, lol!
  17. Honourable Christian maybe, you'd be pushed to find an honourable Kerruish.........
  18. LOL. You ARE Eddie Teare (or Allan Bell) and I claim my £392m. Signed, M. Proffitt
  19. Cracking post, Vinnie. Raises the question, "Who's doing the spoon-feeding?" Civil Service "Mandarins" busy protecting their empires? Or the monied who really run the Island? Who will be on their way when the shit really hits the fan. Call me naive, but I would have hoped for better from Eddie T, coming from his background. After performances to date he's clearly just a mouthpiece and ultimately the fall-guy for the shockwave that's on its way in the next six months to a year. He doesn't appear to have a clue, falling for Mr. Christian's dealings are proof enough of that. God help us if this is the best we can expect from a man with a career in banking. One can only hope that all this is deliberate and part of some masterplan that we haven't all twigged on to yet.......but I don't hold much hope.....
  20. He's gonna be a fooking sight more surprised and despondent in about 3 month's time when the winter hits and we lose what seasonal summer jobs we DO still have......
  21. It might well also set the precedent for any number of local PS trade disputes - with management choosing to avoid or declining any of the cuts themselves that they intend to impose on their workforces (no matter how overpaid/underworked, whatever), those workforces might be perceived to be....But we're all in this together (aren't we....?)
  22. Sadly, "Shallow", I believe is the word. From being fed a diet of "face-value" bullshit from the Great and the Good who've being making sure that they've being doing Rather Well for themselves over the last 20-odd years. But I would say that their uppances are coming too.....and not a moment too late for some of them.
  23. Bit off-topic I know, but does anybody know why quite a few roads that have had their white road-markings burned off presumably for the application of new surface dressing by the Great God Colas, now had them repainted on again - without having been surfaced? Ballaugh Bridge right through to Quarry Bends is one that springs to mind but I'm sure I've seen others in me travels...any clues?
