  1. 114.9 / 117.9p at Morrisons and 2p more at BP / Shell in the UK just now.
  2. Just the usual bog standard state of the driving on the Island's roads. Clueless, in a word.
  3. H & B haven't got a clue when it comes to running pubs and think that the answer to dwindling clientele is to blame everyone else and ramp up the prices to make up for the dwindling income. Jaks is always busy and clearly know what they are doing. It's not all about price, contrary to what H & B think. Pubs that are well run, clean, provide good service and value + entertainment that people want will always thrive. The independent pubs in Peel, Ramsey and Douglas never seem to struggle - which tells you something.
  4. Does anyone care and does it make any difference whether he's in charge or not?
  5. Living on a cold, damp and windy Island for the sake of your bank account must be like a prison sentence. If you could afford to live anywhere, why would you bother living in the Isle of Man? You can get scenery anywhere with better restaurants, service, choice and competition which actually improves standards + a better climate.
  6. It appeared to be pretty tired and jaded before the fire and I doubt it should have been built in the first place. That housing estate is an eyesore.
  7. Another snout in the trough and one that couldn't read or interpret legislation for toffee. Surely the point of LegCo is to scrutinise and question legislation, and not be a cosy retirement home for failed MHKs. Remarkable...Isle of Man - Where You Can get on to a nice gravy train for life if you are a nodding dog and in the boys club.
  8. The Manx are always suckers for novelty. Still holds the record for 30k visitors to McDonald's the weekend it opened...FFS. I remember that well. Only in the Isle of Man would offices book their Christmas party at McDonalds when it first opened with queues literally miles long for the novelty of the drive-thru (and the queues haven't diminished). The Island residents are generally easily pleased with no class, manners or decorum and if ignorance is bliss, they must be a happy lot.
  9. It would appear that policing in the Isle of Man now mirrors policing in the UK. Everything that happens in the UK gets copied in the IoM, sure as night follows day.
  10. Never underestimate the stupidity of some people, and don't get me started on spelling and grammar. Since when was 'allowed' spelt 'aloud'? How these idiots are allowed out on their own without supervision, I'll never know.
  11. It illustrates how lucky we are that this kind of crime spate happens so infrequently that people clearly have little clue about the difficulty of catching the perpetrators in the act or within days. Bit more to it than that. A few "me too" operators as well as the main ones I reckon. Don't forget that this is just everyday commonplace all the time in the UK and not even newsworthy. You best get used to it as what happens in the UK follows in the Isle of Man sooner or later. I look forward to the petrol at £1,06 a litre then! Sorry, no can do - the price of anythi
  12. I'm sure it is, hence why the independent bakeries like Noa Bakehouse are doing so well. The fact that a lot of Island residents are happy to pay over the odds for sub-standard produce and sing its praises speaks for itself.

  14. 36 burglaries so far in such a short space of time is remarkable and they are just having a laugh at the Police. It can only be hoped that their luck runs out sooner rather than later. I'm not sure if they are skilled and experienced or the Police are just incompetent, given that they have lost them 3 times now.
