  1. Good point. You're meant to leave a gap at the edge, size of which depends on the size of the floor. Given we're talking about a 60m2 area, that's at least a length of 8m - that may need a big gap! a mention of 15x4 was made, wood expands across the grain a lot more than with it so depending on which way the boards run would have a bearing on how big clearances need to be where. The dimensions quoted was an example as there were good natured pedants 'arguing' over metres squared and squared meters! The actual area is a playroom, large hallway and two cupboards. Thanks for all of the 'ad
  2. Maybe - but no way of knowing :-) Sounds like carpet is the solution though :-(

  4. Plenty of expansion gappage, other than round bottom of bannister and abut to a door. Checked almost all edges.
  5. LOL. Nice one SMUJ. Anyways, it's an area equivalent to 15m X 4m. I will try the weighting suggestion but maybe not the sanding one and if no one else has any other ideas and this doesn't work then carpet it is. Shame it failed in the first place. Thanks all.
  6. Expertly checked and not the case. Warped ages ago, very soon after laying in fact and not got any worse since or at least if it has it's only microscopically. My large section is 60 m2. Will attempt a sample fix as per x-in-man. Could work 60m2 ??? That's half a footbal pitch (roughly) - I think you mean 60 sq metres Erm, yes! Couldn't do a small 2! You miss the point - 60m2 is 3600 sq metres m2 (metres squared) is very different to square metres Quite right........... Sorry.

  8. We've had this, always due to an identifiable leak. Once that's been sorted we've had some success with a dehumidifier and the passage of time, but in other cases we've just had it replaced. If yours has been down for ages, and is not damp, I suspect the fix won't work, so you're looking at sanding and varnishing or replacement. Good luck. I appreciate views on causes but practically everything ruled out - very frustrating! Will try applying heavy weights to area and then look into cost of sanding and varnishing. Thanks for ideas :-)

  10. Is this irreversible, other than starting from scratch or getting a power sander and sanding the peeked parts of the 'planks' ? Feels like walking on the peaks of waves lol. Advice highly appreciated.
  11. Maybe our providers are missing a trick here as it appears there isn't a decent option really which is why I was asking you guys/girls. Seems tethering/hotspotting phone is the best option when not within range of available wifi. One final possibility, but not one i know or understand much about is a dongle. How does this work and what exactly is it ? Excuse ignorance!
  12. What advice does anyone have with regard to cheapest/most efficient means to use the 3G facility on iPads/tablets ?
  13. I'd love to rebuy my LEB Beetle registration H 170 MAN sold to a young fella about 6 years ago for a couple of hundred quid as could now afford to get it rebuilt and saved for one of the kids :-) Anyone seen it or do you thing it's safe to assume it's gone to the great scrapyard in the sky
  14. Mother is predominently black with some gold. Father could be one of two other Molly's. One predominently gold some black, one silver and black. Looks like the other two are involved in some kind of courtship, so might be another pregnant molly in due course :-(
  15. We have a very pregnant Molly and appreciate unless we segregate off part of our tank her fry are unlikely to survive the other fish (in particular the angel's). Even if we segregate there are no guarantees (especially since this is our first time) of any survivors but the decision to concertedly produce survivors is likely to be based on being able to find homes for them! Although we will ask, it seems unlikely Pets at Home are allowed to take them even if they wanted to. So let us know if interested and we'll bump this accordingly in due course.
  16. [1] Assuming that they've even bothered to draw up a contract in the first place of course. Rather than just ploughing ahead and then being surprised when presented with an enormous bill at the end. Oh why do I get that horrible feeling that you are almost certainly right! I hope not, but I doubt it.
  17. No they shouldn't, but the clue is in the fact that they're children! D'uh!
  18. What a gentleman. RIP and condolences to his family and friends. He had a good life (pun intended - but in honour not bad taste).
  19. Looks as though they have been taking in almost twice as many children as they should under the planning permission for 55. Nah, but that was my concern. They have proper accreditation according to the attachments to the application (thanks for pointing me in the right direction trmpton) for 70+. Mind at rest now, it must have just been an oversight that the lower number was quoted in an earlier application and they're having to cover their backsides. Issue resolved - thatnks.
  20. In this week's courier: 12/01549/LAW Application to make lawful the breach of condition 6 of planning permission 88/00155/B that restricted the maximum number of children attending the kindegarten (sic) at any time not to exceed 55, Beehive Kindergarten Hillberry Road. Please can anyone explain this in plain English!
  21. Just seen this advertised as it was included in The Telegraph idea'slist for Christmas gifts for petrolheads. Great photography, great advertising of the Island and the TT. Great 'arty' pics of a girl with a fantastic body. http://www.dukevideo.com/prdRC2013/TT-Milestones-2013-Calendar
