  1. There was an article somewhere that mentioned this mutation could render vaccines less effective, but anti viral drugs would still be effective. ..........don't be lazy Cheese. Go and find it. Source - Guardian What about existing drugs? Scientists expect that recently approved antiviral drugs, such as Merck’s pill, will work as effectively against the new variant because these drugs do not target the spike protein – they work by stopping the virus from replicating. However, there is a bigger risk that monoclonal antibodies, such as Regeneron’s treatment, could fail or partially fail because they target parts of the virus that will have mutated.
  2. The question was asked if folks travelling to IOM will be allowed to transit from the UK, or wait until clear PCR. It would make sense to let passengers continue to IOM for sure.
  3. Those folks arriving in the UK will be allowed to travel home and isolate. Being in the CTA, it should be hopefully the same for us.
  4. When you last needed PCR after arriving in the UK, you were free to travel to the IOM without a test. I suspect you will still be able to come home, and perhaps have a test here, or if you become symptomatic. The UK passenger locator form has always allowed you to transit to the Isle of Man without any restriction (unless coming into the UK from red list)
  5. Be careful what you wish for. https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/108819-guernsey-to-recapitalise-aurigny-to-tune-of-863mn
  6. Friend of ours works in Peel power station. I was surprised just how much electricity we sell to the UK grid.
  7. I guess now we (seemingly) have anti viral drugs that are effective against covid, the anti vaxers will be clapping all the way to ICU.
  8. Yes, should’ve mentioned, took a couple of LFD’s ( isn’t that what our genomics Dr calls them)? Anyhow, both negative. I’m actually 99% better now. Just couldn’t understand how hard it hit me. I normally shake colds off in a few days, as I suspect most folks do.
  9. Any truth is these ‘super cold’ threads doing the rounds on social media? I’ve had the worst cold of my life. Almost three weeks of coughing so hard it was quite worrying. Is it just because we’ve been isolated from bugs for so long that our immune systems aren’t as robust as normal?

    COP21

We’ve had one for 10 years (just for hot water). Saves us a tank of oil during the summer. My point is that if you’re on a train in the UK, you can’t fail to spot hundreds of new builds with panels on. Should be a no brainier over here.

    COP21

Why hasn’t every new build on the Island with a south facing roof, got a solar panel slapped on it?
  12. Had a smashing meal in the Swan a couple of months ago. Really tasty, and the lass serving is a right character too.
  13. Our Hermes delivery individual is actually very good. They told us last week that Hermes had told the drivers they were reducing their pay. Our individual said it would make the job no longer viable, which is a great pity.
  14. It’s only £16. Bargain.
  15. I really don’t know why some of you lot don’t feck off to Albania to live. Nothing better to do than moan about the TT scoreboard ! It’s all a bit sad.
  16. Has anyone been to Dubai recently? Regs say that UK NHS PCR test certification not allowed. Wondering if anyone has been, and what test they used. Cheers
  17. Has anyone (double jabbed) returned to the IOM from an Amber list country via England recently? I see that England wants to see that you've pre-booked tests before you return. Do we get around this by entering IOM home address? Cheers
  18. Perhaps it would help those unsure about getting vaccinated to make an informed choice. Didn't Wrighty mention a UK hospital with 28 on ventilators (26 unvaccinated). If I was unsure about getting a jab, that would sway it for me.
  19. Really? If you’re double jabbed, surely there’s a good chance you are not suffering the same symptoms, and not coughing and spluttering the same ? Doesn’t that mean you have less viral load?
  20. Yeah but on the plus side…… ……I’ll get my coat
  21. I've started wearing a mask to go into shops. Mainly because I've noticed an uptick in the amount of folks doing the same, and I believe (purely personal choice) it's the right thing to do at this point. I'm double jabbed, but well aware I can pass it on, so hopefully doing my bit to help protect others. The vaccine is doing it's job. I hope Nobles doesn't get stretched. They've all been through enough stress. .....those figures someone posted about Israel earlier can't be right can they? More cases in folks jabbed than un-jabbed? Hopefully someone got their spreadsheet headers mixed up.
  22. Only three fully vaccinated people were being invasively ventilated. Also, only two people were connected to an ECMO external oxygenation machine, and neither of them were vaccinated.
  23. Mine is in the show your GP health record section
