Oh aren't you the big cosmopolitain man? Do you realise how much of an "I am" that statement makes you look? Stu, you are a DJ on a local radio station, it isn't Radio 4....it's not even close.
I don't see that. It was just an observation by Stu. I was amazed when the Strand Centre opened and a crowd gathered just to watch the escalator. Doesn't make me big and cosmopolitan. Just makes me wonder why people are so fascinated by the imported stuff and that certainly goes for shops.
I'm Manx, I do not get excited about Pizza Huts/Maccy D''s/Burger Kings or any of that, as for going to see an escalator, WTF? You saw the people waitings passports did you? Know for a fact they were Manx? Mew mew mew the Manx are all stupid and are impressed by imported guff....really? If there were not so many imported "I am's" the Isle of Man might be a nice place to live.
The Isle of Man is a great place to live.
I'm Manx and never queued up to see the escalator or ventured out to see 'Shane from neighbours' open the strand centre, though I have to admit the arrival of a large music shop and Tandy no matter how crappy was quite exciting and offered something new.
Pizza Hut Costa and McDonalds etc are just here for the English majority who have no imagination and want the IOM to be as bland and shitty as where they came from, just like they need Sausage Egg & Chips to be served in every spanish resort. When I lived in england an IKEA opened down the road and the locals were down there like flies round shit, as they are today when a Apple Store or any other pile of shite branded store opens, so to try and label this as a Manx phenomena is incorrect.
