  4. Lol. I know really they don't need a website builder when they could just get a generic WordPress theme for a couple of dollars like this one http://www.brightlife.com then shove it full of generic stock photography.
  5. Oh aren't you the big cosmopolitain man? Do you realise how much of an "I am" that statement makes you look? Stu, you are a DJ on a local radio station, it isn't Radio 4....it's not even close. I don't see that. It was just an observation by Stu. I was amazed when the Strand Centre opened and a crowd gathered just to watch the escalator. Doesn't make me big and cosmopolitan. Just makes me wonder why people are so fascinated by the imported stuff and that certainly goes for shops. I'm Manx, I do not get excited about Pizza Huts/Maccy D''s/Burger Kings or any of that, as for going to see an escalator, WTF? You saw the people waitings passports did you? Know for a fact they were Manx? Mew mew mew the Manx are all stupid and are impressed by imported guff....really? If there were not so many imported "I am's" the Isle of Man might be a nice place to live. The Isle of Man is a great place to live. I'm Manx and never queued up to see the escalator or ventured out to see 'Shane from neighbours' open the strand centre, though I have to admit the arrival of a large music shop and Tandy no matter how crappy was quite exciting and offered something new. Pizza Hut Costa and McDonalds etc are just here for the English majority who have no imagination and want the IOM to be as bland and shitty as where they came from, just like they need Sausage Egg & Chips to be served in every spanish resort. When I lived in england an IKEA opened down the road and the locals were down there like flies round shit, as they are today when a Apple Store or any other pile of shite branded store opens, so to try and label this as a Manx phenomena is incorrect.
  6. That might be more to do with you than him. Bet your glad I managed to work the quote function before you backtracked.
  7. If it costs this much, surely they should tarmac the area, at least that would give a hard standing for burger vans without cluttering the road up.
  8. Its Tynwald Day tomorrow duh!
  9. a wee bit but still holds true, given he called my 90 year old grandmother a 'dickhead' because a bike race was a little bit delayed.
  10. not that lasting you are now back to just a pointless whinging tosser.
  11. its the tt we all can swear like mhks and act like we hail from the scummiest parts of northen england for a week it's official.
  12. perfectly acceptable description. did used to just think repetitive boring twat but now complete dickhead is more apt.
  13. long reply, but don' t worry about slim no one cares for his opinion he's just a dickhead.
  14. A true professional would not mention it even in context.
  15. I don't listen to your show though as it sandwiches mandate I sometimes can't avoid it, In yesterdays 'show' in the space of a few minutes you plugged your shop twice which what led me to comment on the blatant free advertising. Perhaps you don't realise you are doing it, but if you care to listen again you will hear yourself do what you say you don't.
  16. The problem with your comparison with the attitudes with regards Pinewood and Sefton that in both those cases a handful of individuals who were already wealthy have benefited unjustly, the TT however benefits many directly and indirectly and has fans drawn from across society so many would like to see it continue even if it did lose money or just break even. The fact is the Isle of Man without the TT would be a very different place if the Film Industry and Sefton Group collapsed it would make very little difference.
  17. He drives a £200,000 car exactly the sort of HNW people that we are supposed to want to attract, so I guess this won't go much further than a slap on the wrists.
  18. Well the presenters get them for free so what do you expect?
  19. But I have internet in all those rooms don't you? The only advantage to old fashioned radio is in the car, I still drive a car with a tape deck but that does not mean I choose to keep tape decks in every other room.
  20. This should be printed off and displayed on the Steam Packet, even better how about some signs at the Sea Terminal, "Welcome to the Isle of Man, not a motorcycle related trauma centre of excellence."
  21. I too am a lazy bastard who can't stand fresh air, sunshine or people enjoying themselves. I refuse to leave my car at home and walk the short distance to work under any circumstance. I intend to use this thread to whinge daily about the total inconveniences to me personally as I need to get home in time to fit in a 4 hour session playing computer games in a darkened room before I order my pizza.
  22. Well this thread is about finding somewhere to stay and the new improvements that were referred to relate to the bookings side.
  23. To give the DED credit, unlike the awful shopiom where they paid £300,000 to get a UK e-commerce provider to offer the same rates that anyone else could get, this time they at least paid nothing or so I hear. However they have offered MyUK Travel guranteed income for 2 years and have created a monopoly situation which penalises anyone who does not ditch their current provider for this crappy buggy solution. Anyone who has a passing interest in HTML will enjoy reading their code which is a mash up of ancient free scripts and dreamweaver templates I would not be surprised if it was backed by an MS Access database as it runs dog slow.
  24. The new booking system is a recent addition launched in February this year, it is simply an embedded UK provider, and possibly the most amateurish one available. It has had negative impact on many businesses as it does not work with the self-catering market, also hotels who have been pro-active and already implemented their own booking system. Unless hotels sign up to the new system which does not integrate with their management software they are not listed at all on visitisleofman.com.
