  1. Regardless of which side of the argument you happen to be on regarding covid vax for kids, what these protesters are doing is abhorrent. They claim to want to protect children but what they're doing is terrorising them. In one of the clips a little boy has his hands clamped over his ears, and is clearly frightened as are most of the little ones. If shouting and screaming, accusing parents of raping and abusing their children in front of young primary school aged kids isn't terroristic, I don't fucking know what is.
  2. Think you've left nearly £14,000 off that. MLC pay is £63,776. It's a lot to miss off when you consider people on incapacity topped up with SI only get around £11-12,000pa.
  3. Oops link didn't work.
  4. Same here in February 2020. I didn't have the Flatley effect but did have fever, cough, headache, fatigue etc... a very bad flu. The fatigue lasted over a month and had a cough for 14 months. I'd two clients over in early feb. They'd recently travelled together through several Far-East locations. One had a "headcold". Didn't really think anything of it at the time. Cursed him when I came down with it a few days after they left. Also know someone who was very ill with respiratory issues in January 2020 and was in hospital with it for a few days. He managed to get tested for covid-19 antibodies not long after the tests came out (early summer?) and he tested positive.
  5. Too many willing amateurs here. Even during TT; the competition for fresh meat amongst the amateurs is fierce. Or so I hear.
  6. An extra £10,000 isn't bad.
  7. As of 15:59, the comparison between Manx Radio and Manx Forums looks like this (MR numbers first) Allinson: 27%; 40% Cannan: 46%; 13.33 Neither: 27%; 46.67%
  8. I'm not holding my breath where Cannan's concerned. Although... I could see him making Barber a minister as a reward for nomination. ETA: The word "token" springs to mind.
  9. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Cannan, should he become CM, also chooses only men as ministers. Alinson would be much more likely to include women.
  10. Stop apologising for adding to this thread. I for one appreciate your number crunching as it means I don't have to, but I am interested in the results. So, thanks, and keep crunching!
  11. Heywood nominated Allinson.
  12. Surely he can't be the only person in the British Isles who can do the job? Just how specialised is this work?
  13. It appears to have snowed overnight somewhere in Britain. And I thought our weather was shite today!
  14. They never were. Or did the MR presenters come to your house, hold you down, and ram the stats down your throat? I hope you rang the cops.
  15. I'm surprised Boot got as many votes as he did. I thought most of his family lived across.
  16. I had a cancer scare this month. Saw my GP 1/9 who put in a referral to the appropriate consultant at Nobles. I received the appointment letter on 14/9 and the appointment was on 17/9, so two weeks, three days from GP referral to appointment. Thankfully it was a false alarm, although something else was spotted on the scan that we'll be keeping an eye on. I'm quite happy my GP acted quickly (it was a new situation, not something that had been bubbling away) as it easily could have been serious. When I went to the GP appointment, cancer was the furthest thing from my mind so it was a bit of a shock. I'm all too aware that far too many on the island get fobbed off, beginning with their GP. It makes me angry that this is the case, and even more grateful that my experience has been positive.
  17. They do report the covid stats every day on the website. They're in the covid section (which they've had for over a year). I suppose it's to spare the delicate flowers who don't wish to know the numbers. They also include the numbers at the top of the radio news at 4 and 5 pm. https://www.manxradio.com/news/coronavirus-news/
  18. Hmmm... you may be right about the tactical voting, not sure though if the acting speaker can't be nominated. Maybe CT could come back and enlighten us? And yeah, I wondered why the guy who sorted out the noms and vote for AS didn't just cut out the middle man and do the speaker noms/vote himself? I think I recall him saying something to the effect that the AS is required by law and if so, what a silly law.
  19. Nominations on 5 October, manifestos made public on the 7th, election on the 12th.
  20. Nope, no vote. That's why I included the information about the three nominations for Acting Speaker. A five minute non-role as CT came here specifically to point out even though most people already knew. Is he normally prone to mansplaining? Anyways... I thought it was funny (haha funny) that for the real job they only nominated one and didn't vote, but for the non-job they nominated three and had a vote. Seems a bit backward to me and I was quite surprised there weren't more noms.
  21. China, that tweet is nearly a year old.
  22. Yes, a month later. I thought it odd too. Could only think of two reasons: they were savaged on an arm or hand and it's not healing well; they're claiming to be traumatised by the incident and having panic/anxiety attacks.
  23. Sounds to me like SP engages in a fair amount of faux outrage himself, and is lacking a sense of proportion.
