  1. I'd like to know exactly where Howard Quayle is getting his figures from... How can a service charging £100,000 more a year be saving money? How can £2.3 million being sent off island be good value for money? Even if St Christopher's are cheaper the loss to the island will be huge, St Christopher's don't spend their profits on island setting up new charitable projects... Just before Christmas st Christopher's went begging for money for one of their Young people... Why they couldn't borrow back some of that £2.3 million they sent off island I'll never know

The profits the children's centre makes from these services go to charitable projects like, Out to Play, mobex, community farm and the financial assistance fund. Without these contracts there will be a knock on affect and these may soon cease to exist. Will St Christopher's pump their profits back into the island? Doubtful when they sent £2.3 million off island last year... Or is it, perhaps, that the money being sent off-Island is repayment of loans for original start-up expenses? They've been on the island for 10 years, they said their uk arm "borrowed" the money, haven't said what for yet.

Both services are very good at what they do. The issue here is St Christopher's are uk based, employ agency workers (from the uk who require work permits) and send all their profits off island (2.3 million last year). The children's centre employ full time workers and their profits go back into the island. Someone is benefiting from this and it isn't the Manx people.

St Christopher's sent £2.3 million in profits off island last year. That £2.3 million could have been used by the children's centre to provide a service for the Islands children and families.
