  1. The same is true of the Scottish, and Welsh Parliament neither of them start with prayers. The Northern Irish Parliament has silent prayers for two minutes.
  2. Nothing to do with Brexit then?
  3. You could / should move an amendment to hold prayers 10 or 15 minutes prior to the sitting - which would make it voluntary rather than mandatory (similar is done in Westminster). Probably a happy medium.
  4. If people want to pray they should hold prayers 15 minutes before the sitting. That way they're not imposing it on those who don't want to partake. It should not form part of the actual sitting. It's an anachronism and needs to go. Just to deal with this nonsense. It's ridiculous to suggest a parliament can't deal with more than one matter. Have you even bothered to read the report? It's really short.
  5. They're plenty wide enough. I followed a transit van the other day who fitted on the tarmac with room to spare meanwhile the Micra driver behind me was on the tram tracks and barely in my rearview. It's just poor driving. As to why not, you'll end up with a face full of horsetram for your troubles soon enough.
  6. I've been wondering at what point people are going to stop driving on the red tram track area and stick to the tarmac. I suspect the roadworks have conditioned people to drive in the middle of the road.
  7. Cannan said in his Our Island Plan speech he's going to change planning law to make it easier for construction.
  8. I don't think so. I think he's just losing it. He repeats the same arguements in every debate regardless of whether they're relevant or not. If he was a little older I'd suspect senility.
  9. In every single debate. Likewise the biosphere.
  10. There was an election coming they needed to be seen to do something. A bit like the farce over the Animal Welfare Bill which didn't actually do anything that couldn't already be done in secondary legislation. But you know election year and all that.
  11. Or to mentality scar someone for life.

Do you disagree with any of that; and if so why?

So you'll cherry pick what suits your agenda. Nice. I'm intrigued, which one of the many Tim's do you think I am?

Why not post what Moorhouse said in the first place to see what elicited this response from KLB or maybe his response to this comment... "Our Island Plan" is not a backbench document, it's the Government's document. If the Government doesn't engage Members correctly then that is THEIR fault not the backbenchers; and they only have themselves to blame when things go wrong. Of course he did. It's almost like they've both been briefed on what to say... If the Chief Minister had tried to do this when Hooper was a backbencher he would have thrown all his toys out of the pram. A remarkable change really.

A deputy is not necessarily your go to person on a daily basis. KLB and AC are both situated on the third floor of Government Offices. JPW is down Tromode. JPW definitely doesn't seem the type to lose her temper.

I have been led to believe she is Cannan's right-hand person.

It could have been KLB she replied in the comments and would fit the bill of being a senior minister. Given her department are behind the plan I could imagine she was a little annoyed.

Not Ashford's style quite possibly Hooper. When Hooper buys into something he goes balls deep. Of course it could just have been Crookall trying to make conversation and Glover misinterpreting Crookall's normal volume for shouting.

    Wonder how that's going: https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/cannan-surprising-mhks-couldnt-digest-island-plan/

It's good to see that MHK's are not letting the Government push through items at 4 days notice. Not sure what Cannan was hoping to achieve. They have missed the six week deadline for February so they will have to vote again on whether to take it in the sitting. Given members will have had more time to consider it I suspect it won't be voted down this time.
  21. Acting Clerk on the minutes is the district surveyor.
  22. True but not many adults have been admitted to ICU. I know if at least two children (excluding the ICU case) that have been admitted to hospital because of COVID.
