  1. They made the wrong decision ..Instead of being worried about Barclays pulling out ,jobs lost etc, they were bothered about a few hundred instead of 80,000 plus people and a massive sum of money . Short sighted as if it suits Barclays in the future they will be gone anyway! They have no loyalty to the IOM just the bottom line...Since when has a bank ever had a conscience.
  2. So when this finally gets sorted,if it ever does, what's going to happen say 5 years down the line when it has a problem?? Or needs software updates or whatever..not sure the Italians are going to break a leg to sort it! Or if they do it's going to cost!
  3. Surely some of the big civil engineering company's across should be asked to tender..21 million seems OTT to me..I do know that you can't just skim of the surface and put a new surface down...There's to much subsidence and lack of compressed base to build on,,It would only break up without consolidating first..That means digging down and probably concrete and steel rebar to give a firm foundation. Still think it's a awful lot of money !
  4. I think actually the manufacturers supplying the cars actually pay to do so also...along with the cars supplied...money changes hands...
  5. Was heavily involved in a sport from the 80's through to mid to late 90's ...Myself and a couple of other enthusiastic volunteers!! organised and built up a sport to having a total of 30 or so teams...Very successful sport and players went on to represent England,GB and professional teams in the UK as well as many age group area and national teams... This was all done with no money been payed to us and just enthusiasm and common sense.... A very structured and organised leagues and set up.... Now we all have moved on due to age ,demands off personal life amongst other reasons and that same spo
  6. Not sure about the others but I believe the cricket devolopment officer is funded by English cricket board..or at least majority funded...
  7. I personally think that as the matter with the knife was dealt with by the commissioners and Industrial relations and it was agreed the dismissal stood I have a real problem how someone can then step back into a position of authority in that same organisation that dismissed him. I also think that as its a election for people to be voted in by the population and because not enough stood for election no choice of character or ability was ever able to be tested.. Needs to be addressed somehow and should be easy to be done! Warning signs have been posted in past years but not acts on..!! As a side
  8. How does Longworth get away with it..Seems he is the only one who can spend whatever he wants! Our buses run empty as it is apart from school runs etc. Is he buying these because the school mini bus backtrack has left him short ??!!! Hope he keeps a few bob for the rebuild of the tram !!
  9. Yes says it all when a bunch of volunteers and interested lay people can derail ( see what I did there) a 21 million pound development so conclusively and effectively ! For Phil Gawne to have the affront to blame anyone apart from his department is a disgrace . The buck stops totally with him. Failure in policy and transparency and a clear failure to research the issues..i.e. Empty parking in Chester street, danger to public and eliminating of public quality areas...plus much more...has the Peel silt issue all over this excuse!! Who was the minister in charge there?!!
  10. The argument that it's cruel makes me laugh..As others have said there working horses and wouldn't be a breed if they hadn't been a need for them on farms and the like..In those day they would work from morning till sundown. Now they do a couple of trips which mostly involves running along and not pulling as inertia keeps the tram going. It's not cruel in any way shape or form.. The actually have a great life.
  11. Maybe so , but if parents have made a substantial contribution to buying the minibus in the first place ... then what has it to do with Government.Plus it just looks like empire building again - according to the quote on the radio there is a potential saving of £500,000 pounds ... a nice round figure I think we would all agree ( but somewhat unbelievable ) Also why have the schools PTA etc bought the minibuses in the first place!. Because the Bus company under whatever branding was charging the schools, too much !! The schools, being prudent and trying to spread they disapearing budget as far
  12. A sweeping generalisation which for a obviously educated person is very surprising. While I agree for sure there's a lot of people abusing the benefit system equally there's more who for no fault of there own have to rely on it and believe me it's not a choice you make willingly. I think for sure anyone receiving benefits should have to justify the need and personally don't have a issue with checks etc being carried out however the issue I think is the way it's done and as you have done the generalisation adopted in the assessments. I was happy to reply to your comments the other day and will
  13. Having done a lot of work over recent years I can attest that 8 k gets you very little. Have to disagree...These were Magnet kitchens and with discounts and including appliances and fitting you can get a really nice trade kitchen for a reasonable size kitchen , certainly the size that this housing would have for 4/5k. Have fitted quite a few kitchens over the years and offers and discounts including free appliances can be as much as 65%
  14. Haven read David Cretneys questions and answer forms he put on Facebook it would seem that we might be giving Dependability a rough ride..It seems to me after reading it several times and also accessing the incapacity to work regulations 1995 it seems it's our Social security dept whose rules Dependability are following....There's many people more learned and knowledgeable than me on here and would be interested to see if they come to the same conclusion as me!!
  15. David Cretney has just posted questions and answers received from Treasury social security officers regarding assessments and practices..Interesting reading. Some clear issues in the questions and answers...Somebody deemed fit for work by Dependability and put on JSA are expected to work 40 hrs a week... How is that going to be possible for so many !!
  16. Hasn't Murray Lambden requested information on the planning for the prom ! That will be interesting as to how they deal with that request !
  17. And expect the age old excuse to be brought out also.. No records can be found . My feeling is the govt shredder will have been working overtime over the last few months !! Just wait !
  18. Nutter might be a bit strong but certainly obsessive and if he gets his teeth into something he won't let go ! He has over the years saved millions in the department he ran by using that same stubbornness to fight a corner. Like I said he knows the legislation and people to ask in the right places. The main problem as I've said is he is too intense in to many areas. I believe he's currently got gripes against the Governor ,CM and many MHK's but surprisingly a few on his side too... I've been on the receiving end of him years ago and he doesn't take prisoners if you know him or not !! Sounds li
  19. I agree he was right on the pensions. He didn't take any shit off a recently deceased ultra high net worth developer either! Yes..they were in work permit days when his dept was tasked with enforcing the scheme. Which he did in his usual manner and caused all sorts of problems for the now deceased man. Actually a lot of his anger comes from those days I feel as he wasn't supported when suspended by his department. I think he had a point to as if anything he carried out his job according to the legislation which is a lot more than the most do nowadays.

  21. Yes you've for sure identified the very same. !! It is who you think it is as your brief description can only be the one and only !! He has got a bit carried away with personal issues but he as you say so well positioned to ask the questions. He is a massive pain in the butt in many ways but don't bet against him !! He's never wrong as he knows the rules etc and procedures ! Good luck to them catching him out...My guess is they will just ignore his correspondence as they have some legislation that allows that !! I was actually arguing against it. I think that sort of behaviour will just add to

  23. They've got us into this mess..it's sadly them and the people of the Isle of Man who will get us out of it. The first person to realise this and get the public on board and be honest and upfront will get my vote. Not much to ask is it. The kind of morals and honesty that we all grew up taking on board but some seem to have forgotten..
