  1. Well from my observations and DOI's explanation to justify this mess it was to enable Buses to keep to timetable. Interestingly once around St Ninians they are then faced with backups all the way down into town so I would have at a guess especially at peak times buses are all running late . Its not about lanes etc , its about amount of traffic which fortunatly currently is reduced but when everyone working from home goes back its going to be far worse .
  2. Yes my friend is not on a mountain bike. But as its a cycle lane it should be perfect for any bike right !! But I know you know that too . Who the hell signs this stuff off !
  3. Have a friend who regulary cycles that way and he says the cycle lane is dangerous and not fit to cycle on
  4. Everyones missing the real point. This traffic issue in these areas are totally the responsibility of DOI and the complete clusterf**k they made of the promenade in the first place . From day one they didnt have a clue ,and along with lack of design plans , and this is why we are where we are . How is it suddenly we have big numbers on site but for a year often there wouldnt be double figures for months . The Prom doesnt need to be one way as there is plenty of room for two lanes . As there was all along.. Management at DOI have completly failed in everyway and how Black is still in charge is
  5. Mobile number please , I'm on the case saved 30 groats over lockdown..fill my boots
  6. Really ??!! Lots in the Met and other forces whos 'best practices' wont suit Isle of Man.
  7. Not sure how many woukd be queuing inside regent street bank but when I went past at around 11 30 am there was at least 35 outside waiting. Disgrace tbh and as for claiming they are short staffed how ?? They have 3 branches temporally closed .IOM Bank used to be such a great efficent friendly bank but currently they are far from an acceptable service. I just had £100 credited to my account from them as it took them 9 weeks to supply me with a contactless card after ordering in March. Lost the forms so it didnt arrive, many apologies and promises that it had now been dispatched ,arrived 10 days
  8. Yes sorry ! Mean that for my input . Although the mental health comments will I feel likely be relevant to this post . Hence the lock down on news etc.. if so , so sad !!!
  9. My 3 month injection at GP's was as appointment and blood tests at Nobles no issue either . But as said above loads of staff milling around or sitting chatting in general areas but seemingly not much else happening . Still hard to get car park though and of course blood clinic always busy
  10. All this too and throwing about MHK's or Commisioners/Councll is academic really as there are high paid (overpaid) CS and staff to get it right as thats what there paid for . The real issue is they are not doing the job we are paying them for. First stop should be CEO of the relevant department prompted by MHK's and or Chief Secretary . And a set up that allows accountibility . This is what should be addressed as a priority and then we should safely leave it to the CEO . In this case Black , who quite honestly is so out of his depth its untrue. Again said at the last election key to all this i
  11. I have first hand experience of Mental health service here including Crisis team . They in the main are not fit for purpose and there mandate seems to be dish out meds and sign someone off as quick as possible. God help anyone who isn't strong in themselves as its not going to end well. I said at the start of all this that mental health is going to be a major factor and some thought I was being over the top. I wasnt as just watch in the next few months . I fear for anyone needing help and input as your not going to get it with any commitment .
  12. Prospect aren't sure when their opening apparently according to a friend who messaged them to ask.
  13. Railings on steps on Laxey Beach was a pretty good effort tbh ..how long did it last ? First storm around 6 weeks .
  14. If this is a good thing or bad who knows but the lack of notice about the two changes is just incompetent . And Baker says we of course could always comunicate better ..What !!! there was zero as far as I can see. This department is beyond help. We all know what would happen if this was the private sector. All management would be out the door before they knew what was happening. They just dont care clearly !!
  15. Police were using it over a year ago at least I know it was for sale then taken off the market I think and then Police started using it again .
  16. Wonder has anyone from DOI produced a survey to justify this ? How many cycles go down that road daily !!?? Maybe a few start of day and a few end of working day but rest of the time ? Imbeciles , good old DOI never lets us down .
  17. Personally I feel if it had been any other march it wouldnt have been allowed. In hindsight Police made the correct decision and it all went off peacefully and mainly observing Social distancing . Must havn been a tough call tbh .
  18. Yes went up to see it tonight . Mind blowing tbh. Good luck with turning left on filter lane . A guy in a merc just ignored it and went straight down the bus lane. Lots of thats going to happen for sure .
  19. Your right and I tend to agree re cost. Not maybe as much as 35 million but definately 30 million. But any extra over the 25 forecast DOI have been told has to come out of there budget so we may never know . As for voids , yes I didnt see any and also they were to dig and excavate down 1.7 metres apparently and they haven't gone close to that . Even for the pipe runs . Also I cant see even with more workers down there how its going to be finished by March even leaving out the 'second' phase .
  20. Well only the other week they said that the Prom wall was going ahead immediately and thats 500k plus and counting so it would seem nobody as pulled the reins in yet ! My therory always is that DOI dream up these high schemes to justify the management existence . No rush to repair the roads anytime soon so thats all it can be. What cost now all these schemes on the go currently ? Berthing in Liverpool ? The sooner someone with balls gets a grip of DOI the better for all of us. Sadly they and staff there seem bullet proof..
  21. Yes I know but isnt UK in a mess too ? Vat will change I'm sure . Something will have to !
  22. Your right !!! And watch VAT or the likes change . Where in for lean times .
  23. Its not going to happen 2021/22 . No chance . Wait till the fallout from this current Covid issue hits the fan and the costs are looked at. Health service bill will be horrendous along with the support packages to workers and limited income . CS pension scheme which had to find 50 million plus by 2021 is now going to have to find that or more immediately. And there's still the public sector salary bill to find . Hard times sadly on the horizon.
  24. That of course is dispensing with Buses ,cars ,lorrys and other normal modes of transport mmm brilliant idea
  25. I think Black is anyones puppet. If ever someone is in above his ability he is. He clearly hasn't a clue about running DOI. As has been proven so many times and its ongoing . I've said it so many times CM should have got a grip on DOI from day one but clearoy he's a puppet too . Chief Secretary seems to powerful .
