  1. As I said there is no point in debating with you. You need to calm down and back up what you say with at least some substance IMHO.
  2. Keep you’re hair on. What bitter unsubstantiated lies and shite? You mean the obvious joke I made about the DfE and the press gang? You seem to be a very irate and touchy poster that seems goes off on one for no reason. As I said it doesn’t seem to be worth the effort to debate with you as the story does often seems to be the same. That everyone else is always talking shite except you. Yet at the same time you don't seem to back up any of the wild claims or statements you make whatsoever.
  3. There seems little point in debating with anyone who just seems to be looking for an argument all the time. The lack of success of that department is all around. Now we are bribing accountants to come here. It’s vaguely reminiscent of the press gangs. You’d hate to be an accountant who fell asleep at a DfE event. You might end up drugged and force ably removed to the IOM to help contribute to their pensions.
  4. People commonly get confused by the word “enterprise” when there is nothing enterprising about that department at all.
  5. That’s exactly why I think if the skills are in such demand we should be helping local people to skill up not just subsidizing people to move here.
  6. I have said several times I’m fully conversant with what is required. Thanks.
  7. You seem to be doing a good job of arguing with posters just for the hell of it. As I’ve said above I’m fully conversant with what is required to qualify as either a certified or chartered accountant and I don’t see why we shouldn’t be assisting locals if the jobs are in such demand before we subsidize people to come here.
  8. No I’m fully conversant with what is required thank you.
  9. It is that easy. We’re offering up to £10K relocation and an NI holiday. Surely it makes more sense to have started to pump the money into the education system years ago so that locals benefit and come out of school with good jobs the economy needs? You don’t need any real qualifications to start an accountancy course. It’s just time and money which the DfE could happily subsidize if it wanted to but we seem to prefer to chuck money at everyone but locals these days.
  10. Notwithstanding that we probably do why haven’t we been encouraging more students to do accountancy at the UCM or offering incentives to locals to re train in accounting rather than doing what we always do which is throw a shit load of money at people who don’t even live here to come here and get a job? We did the same with nurses years ago when we stopped training them locally. It does make you wonder what chance at all locals have of progression in the future Manx economy? http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=52987
  11. I went past in the car it must have been all of 30 people.
  12. I saw this announcement this morning. Presumably they put it in the paper just in case 5 more people want to get freezing cold at Mec Vannin’s annual festival of invented nostalgia and hubris http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=52884
  13. Yes it does. If it was a self employed plumber who couldn’t afford to take time off work to do community service would they would also be so accommodating?
  14. The story says that she previously pleaded guilty to one charge of drink-driving from Douglas to her home on Friday, 29 March. So I assumed this was a second offense appearing in December?
