I'd prefer to see voters/taxpayers have some say in who gets into Legco. The ability to assemble an acceptable meal from a carrier bag of assorted food items isn't really a logical precursor to 'high office'

A convenient way to avoid responsibility.

Why Is Cruelty To Animals Punished So Leniently?

Never caught those responsible on the IOM for tieing up and throwing that dog at the reservoir did they? Despite the reward. -

Investigation Into The Isle Of Man Government E-Commerce Initiative
bluemonday replied to brubaskia's topic in Local News
On a side issue, the much vaunted shopiom site was subject to close and critical scrutiny and comment on here some months ago. You might like to do a search and note what was said as 'background' IIRC correctly, the cost and the fact it was deemed beyond the capability of manx companies to undertake ( nonsense ) was raised. http://www.manxforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35245-wwwshopiomcom/page__hl__shopiom -
Massive Overhaul Of Govt Depts Proposed By Tony Brown
bluemonday replied to Declan's topic in Local News
We are the hollow men We are the stuffed men Leaning together Headpiece filled with straw. Alas! Our dried voices, when We whisper together Are quiet and meaningless As wind in dry grass Or rats' feet over broken glass In our dry cellar T. S. Eliot -
Neatly summing up the biggest problem here, the tossers running the place. Doubtless a rabbit from the hat will be produced just before the next election.

The recent IOM problems may well have originated across but the solution lies with not throwing money around like there's no tomorrow which has been the responsibility/perogative of our own clowns for many years. Even now they seem quite content to not significantly reduce their own burden on the local economy. £316 million for staff as quoted in this weeks Courier.

Jesus wept, it's not beyond the realms of belief. He'll probably get in as well, along with equally desirable candidates muffin the mule, a discarded sandwich that someone fished out of a bin, and a promotional life size cardboard cut out of Bruce Willis from Die Hard 2. Shame Gef from Dalby isn't still around.

What a coincidence, a good news announcement a day before the budget speech. Let us all be thoroughly reassured on this dull Monday morning.
