  3. I'd prefer to see voters/taxpayers have some say in who gets into Legco. The ability to assemble an acceptable meal from a carrier bag of assorted food items isn't really a logical precursor to 'high office'
  4. Consultation document at http://www.gov.im/lib/docs/treasury/incometax/consultations/iombusinesstaxsystemreview.pdf
  5. A convenient way to avoid responsibility.
  6. Nothing on local news websites but seems no buses at the moment. eta Just announced on Radio - no buses, review around 9am
  7. A ltlle bit more snow on Douglas Prom over night. Lovely sunrise though.
  8. Never caught those responsible on the IOM for tieing up and throwing that dog at the reservoir did they? Despite the reward.
  9. I see the US Department of State are on FarceFacebook http://www.facebook.com/EngageStateDept?v=app_2373072738&ref=nf#!/EngageStateDept?v=wall&ref=nf Possibly a viable way for the Manx governemnet to engage the Manx taxpayer?
  10. On a side issue, the much vaunted shopiom site was subject to close and critical scrutiny and comment on here some months ago. You might like to do a search and note what was said as 'background' IIRC correctly, the cost and the fact it was deemed beyond the capability of manx companies to undertake ( nonsense ) was raised. http://www.manxforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35245-wwwshopiomcom/page__hl__shopiom

  12. Neatly summing up the biggest problem here, the tossers running the place. Doubtless a rabbit from the hat will be produced just before the next election.
  13. The recent IOM problems may well have originated across but the solution lies with not throwing money around like there's no tomorrow which has been the responsibility/perogative of our own clowns for many years. Even now they seem quite content to not significantly reduce their own burden on the local economy. £316 million for staff as quoted in this weeks Courier.
  14. Jesus wept, it's not beyond the realms of belief. He'll probably get in as well, along with equally desirable candidates muffin the mule, a discarded sandwich that someone fished out of a bin, and a promotional life size cardboard cut out of Bruce Willis from Die Hard 2. Shame Gef from Dalby isn't still around.
  15. What a coincidence, a good news announcement a day before the budget speech. Let us all be thoroughly reassured on this dull Monday morning.
  16. Clicky Good old religion, the great plague of mankind down through the ages. Sooner it goes in the recycle bin of history the better.
  17. I'm not so sure about that. I feel they would do as little as possible. On MR this morning
  18. We just went to the Harbour Lights at Ramsey. Stunning sandwiches and lovely cream cakes. Good food and surroundings and the staff were very polite and helpful.

  22. Obviously no need for it. Clearly everyone on here seems to be an expert on rearing children.
