  1. Seriously though, what do you have to do, to be awarded an OBE for "services to the Manx economy.....[/quote

My understanding is that you just do a bit of canvassing, persuading a few noteworthies to write a few glowing words about you, and get them to send them in to the relevant body. It's a bit like electioneering, and some of us know how that can be approached.

Has there been a massive influx of non-UK citizens to the Island recently?

Are there any official figures available on immigration?

If so, can they really be an accurate record?

What do you mean by non UK citizens? Anyone within the EU is completely free to move here whenever they want without and requirements to register or obtain a VISA in the UK?
I think my questions were worded clearly enough. At what point did I question the freedom of movement for EU citizens?

Oh yes you were (I refer to your above reply). You said you did not include EU citizens within your definition of non UK citizens. So who were you intending to start a debate about?

Did you go to the same school as John Houghton?
  3. The posts are quite clear. Quite what debate was expected if Europeans who have the complete right to reside here at all times were not required to be discussed is anyone's guess? The OP was clearly trying to invite a debate on all the people coming here from outside the EU so why did they just not say that instead of pathetically referring to "non UK citizens" and then when challenged say that Europeans were not included in that definition?

    Oh no I wasn't.

That's a bit presumptious of you OldManxFella. Touch of reverse racism there.

    Only a bit?

Perhaps then, as requested, you should state clearly who you are referring to when you refer to non-UK citizens if EU residents are not included in that despite the fact they are all clearly non-UK citizens.

Just to clarify - In using the term "non-UK" citizens I was referring to anyone who is not a citizen of England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Does that help?

The threatening, looming, Muslim alternative appears to be preferred by a few on here.

Who on here is suggesting the hospital celebrates Islamic festivals?

Nobody. I was referring to the international threat that you may have failed to notice.

Who are the "few on here" that prefer the "Muslim alternative"? I haven't noticed them, and am struggling to see any connections with this thread and Islam. Enlighten me.

Okay, I'll admit that I may have exaggerated a little.

That must now make you The Enlightened One!
