  1. Oh .....I think it would make a nice ' Manx National Museum of Felt' ....or Maybe the a Hub for a New over ground Underground Monorail station :-)
  2. which is exactly what the original manufacturer did ..they came over had a crack at he cooling issue when the engine expired shortly after being used and went 'Thats not going to work mate ' its exactly as you specified but its out of operational limits so warranty is null n void..have a nice day ..
  3. He loves his train set. You can see him driving the horse trams at present. I heard the cabbage has major overheating issues, the loose tires and the wheels and axles require replacement. The same pub told me he's been told to spend no more money ~£100k so far, but is anyway. The overheating issues are not insurmountable to someone with a good working knowledge of the issues involved. It's not like it's the prototype for diesel engine installation in a locomotive and it's all uncharted territory. For those with an interest in mechanical stuff, think Britten motorcycle. Big engine, big power output, big cooling requirement. =Tiny cooling radiator, but in the RIGHT location. The 'Cabbage' was ment to be only a single operating position tender but after purchasing the loco it was decided to fit another control position to facilitate drawing the carrages from either end, in doing so they removed the ability to supply the diesel engine with enough Air flow to cool the engine adequately, then with the added weight of the safety structure and equipment for the second position the weight of the loco exceeded the tolerances of the wheels as well as making the engine run Harder and Hotter, then the guage was found to be incorrect the Bogies were narrowed and bearing sizes reduced to make it all fit ........ Oh then there is the bridges that needed to be modified as the control cabins would Not fit safely .... word on the street is the department is desperate to have it fixed and a 'Open cheque' is being offered to UK firms to Make good the Situation...but No One wants the work as its Bastardized beyond repair and the only stipulation is it must be repaired and not just replaced but it was heard 500,000 has been made available to make good the issue!... as for the stimulator over 50 large ..... 4. Pretty Much spot on ... he witted on a while ago on FB about a track that is pristeen and all tracks shoud be the same ...just the track he was taking about leads NOWHERE and is not used even by the Land owner Who's land is private, there has been no right of way threw it for 30 years so he should not have even been there to take photos but being Him that didn't Suit so he walked it as it is his 'Right' apparently to do so ....the guys a fool!
  5. Ah Kate is too Busy running her Homecare empire to even care whats going on in government anymore ..... just think how much of the prom could have been done with all that tarmac, all they needed to do was remove one of the horse tram tracks completely from the prom, move the remaining one to the centre of the road and just lift the old tarmac and lay fresh tarmac then they can not worry about the prom for another 40 years ...but since the contracts have been torn up for the Prom job think Colas hit them for the 'Loss of potential earning clause' as they have been stockpiling product in preparation to resurface the whole prom so have laid out big money for No return ....
  6. ...according to juan turner this isn't new practice anyway, he claims to have used this method of work on johnny wattersons lane back in 08 when he was involved somewhere This is true. It was trialled during the reconstruction of the top of JW's Lane up by the Cat with No Tail and it was trumpeted (AFAIK) as being completed some twelve weeks before it would have been with normal brewing working practices. Then, a few months later, they had to go back and compulsory purchase a bunch of people's gardens in order to sort out the alleged cock-up they'd made of the Julians Road(?) exit junction onto what they'd just done. Only on IoM ETA. Surely stripping out senior management "in order to get the job done quicker" is admission that a) DOI is over-managed or b) that senior management doesn't know what it's doing or c) Both...? The whole JWL overhaul was a massive overspend!!...the amount of concrete that was ordered just to keep the concrete plant open so the shifts could lay a few curbs was massive..one guy was dismissed as he took photos of the concrete mountain that was piled up in the DOI yard in Hilberry as he was going to go to the papers about it ...rumour has it it took a certain contractor nearly a month to remove and recycle threw their new plant at ballasalla That sounds more than a bit odd to me. The "kerbs", top end of JWL are plastic aren't they? The ones lower down are concrete, but they have only just been put in by Paul Carey, haven't they ? sorry i was referring to the top end the DOI did a few years back, not the preparation work Carey is doing now for the new road surface... but yes the plastic curbs are bedded on concrete but plenty was wasted to keep the concrete plant open for the extended shift pattern..

  12. I'm still wondering how much it cost Ramsey bakery to buy the new Loaf tins...as the loafs are now 11 slices compared to the old 14 slices !!!!!.....less bread for the same money ...I've stopped buying it now as there is too much oil in it now ....
  13. Maybe they have been Using the Live 'Satellite' images that we pay for to good use...Have heard recently that certain Landowners have 'Come unstuck' when Building inspectors have arrived to check on Developments on land that doesn't have planning permisson...only for the landowners to scream Trespass as the development cannot be seen from the road...and they are handed a copy of recent satellite pictures showing development :-) [source man in the pub]
