  1. I know why they're building 200 more parking spaces, it's so people can park their cars and get the train into Douglas, thus at a stroke solving some of the parking problem in Dougie! How clever of them, we should have known (and trusted) that our MHKs would not be wasting money and would have a solution to all our ills!!!!!!!!
  2. 1. How do you know that cars are not being turned away, there is already one overflow car park? 2. Pray, what system would you suggest and how would that compare with the cost of the additional car park? Pardon me if this appears rude, but you seem to have an opinion on just about everything to do with the Isle of Man. Nothing wrong with having an opinion, in fact there should be more opinionated people, but what is your connection with the Isle of Man and on what basis do you make these statements, apparently, as fact? Oh dear Glad, you're showing your - "there's a boat in th
  3. Bloody Hell - I'm packing in my job and becoming a cleaner!!
  4. When did you try to contact the Bishop himself? Who put you onto his sidekick the Archdeacon's secretary? Because the Archdeacon doesn't have a secretary. Why not write to the Bishop now, he's about to arrive soon and put your case to him direct! Address: c/o The Bishop's PA, Bishop's House, The Falls, Tromode Road, Cronkboure, Douglas. IM4 4PZ
  5. Understand that David Callister has said he won't be letting his name go forward again, but he got 11 votes and nearly made it. If he doesn't go forward that leaves the way forward for either PC or Dr Dick - what a choice. I'd rather David C than either of them. Stand again David!!!
  6. I actually don't mind Quo - seen them a couple of times and you always have a good time. But it would be good to have the DTL support newer bands. I can heartily recommend Puressence - latest album Don't Forget to Remember - cracking album just recently released, iTunes USA Editors album of the week last week, No 5 in the iTunes USA Rock charts and 25 in iTunes USA Top 100 albums! Ask Simon Quine he likes them and has interviewed the guitarist, who's Manx!!
  7. OK Mr Smug-Face you can just shut up with your - "Come on John comment..............." you probably get your trips paid for by your company anyway!
  8. This isn't the Steam Packet - the IOM Steam Packet finished many years ago when they sold all the shares to SeaContainers. The IOM Steam Packet use to provide a good service, where you could just rock up and buy a ticket and get on the boat. Where you could go to Liverpool on a day-trip throughout the year and had boats with a silver service restaurant and special areas just for ladies! What you've got now is a floating bank account - by the way, if you email Mr Woodward on his blog - you get a reply from a lady!! Teapotyou are just plain wrong Until Manx Line in 1978 there w

  10. There were 6 of them in the Broadway Cinema on Sunday night - what a performance!! It was like being at the Saturday Matinee at the Picture House. Why do it.........if you're not interested in the movie then bugger off somewhere else!
  11. Don't think it was the roundabout at the entrance of HE's residence (phase 1), it was the fly-over from the field at the top of Blackberry Lane, across Summerhill Glen to Victoria Road (then another roundabout) (phase 2) that got them all hot under the collar. The Minister thought it was a good idea by the way!!
  12. Culturally yes it is. It is a cultural vacuum. That includes "dining out", the thing Mr Gill writes about for a living. Of course, if you point this out the tiny-minded manx will immediately demonstrate their cultural ignorance with the brilliant strategy of name-calling. You know, "pretentious tosser", that kind of thing. How clever are they! I wonder if it's the tiny place creating the tiny minds or if it's the tiny minds just feel comfortable there? Because, let's face it, you're not going to broaden your horizons on the IOM now are you.... To use the brilliant strategy of my people
  13. Well here we go again - Ramsey, Nobles Park now the DB Cemetry. This is getting beyond a joke. If they catch the people, and that's a big if, I think they should be made to scrub out the ornamental pond with nail brushes before the water is put back in, and paint the vandalised benches with small school paint brushes and replace the flower beds with new plants, digging the holes for said plants with dessert spoons, watched over by chaps from the Corporation who will not be helping them at all but sitting drinking tea and eating cake!! No point in sending them to prison and costing us a fort
  14. Is it still there, or has that been built on?? It's been built on.
  15. Surely with the money he has he could have afforded to have round the clock care in his own home, which, from the Examiner this week it would appear that he wanted to. Not family members, but paid nursing care. Quote in the Examiner article (not word for word) from his son, "a friend visited him in the home just after he arrived and it unsettled him so much that he had his bags packed ready to go home". I think the family appear to be hoping that his illness will affect his memory and that once he has been at the home for long enough without seeing people that remind him of his home, he
