  1. On the front page of the Examiner(11/02/2013) The article reveals the findings of an extremely damning Select Committee report into the lack of management and accountability within the MEA and Treasury. Among those heavily criticised for their involvement are retired AG.John Corlett for imposing restrictions on the Isle of Man Constabulary's freedom to question former Chief Executive Mike Proffitt, without the AG's prior consent. The Report, which is also highly critical of the roles of Treasury,Barclay's Bank, the Board of Directors and other parties will be the subject of debate at this months sitting of Tynwald. Steve Rodan MHK/SHK says "it's now up to the Financial Supervision Commission to consider if there is evidence for further action". The Examiner is definitely worth the 85p purchase price this week,if only for this article.
  2. I appreciate that this has been covered, but the Hansard has now been published and I thought it useful to note this piece of superlative über spin from the spin master himself Allan Bell, Chief Minister. In an attempt to excuse Tynwald for its huge inadequacies - and dare I say "incompetence" - regarding the MEA, Allan Bell, Chif Minister tried to portray what he thought about Mike Proffitt in the past, onto the population of the Isle of Man: (erm, can anyone remind who the Minister for Treasury was at the time of the MEA 'loans'.) Never one to give up the opportunity for some brown nosing, Eddie Lowey backed the Chief Minister up with his own inimitable words: Source: Hansard So...the MEA is all your fault folks. Yep, you and the media.
