I'm thinking of having a bash at a bit of this home automation stuff. Nothing too fancy, just thought I'd start with some of the wifi controlled light switches, plug sockets, and maybe some rad valves to control my unconventional heating system, ideally with some ITTT options driven by temp sensors. From initial research it looks like this is one of those areas where there are just too many options and different manufacturers. Ideally I'd like to start with something that I can add to later - so don't want to buy cheap crap, or stuff that is going to be incompatible with everything else in 5 minutes time. I generally don't trust retailer reviews, so has anyone got any sage words of advice or experience they can pass on?
