Hate the adverts and there are several which are so dire that I too would make a point never to go anywhere near the company that is assaulting my ears. My pet hates are the shouty ones, particularly the one which is set up as the announcement introducing a boxing match. Man with a big gob and a baying crowd in the background. "I give you........ "  Can't even remember who it is advertising. Good!

Yes are you with Ross Gower? Yes I’m with Ross Gower, and are you with Ross Gower? Yes I’m with Ross Gower, and so am I, and so am I. Me too! ...... oh fuck off Ross Gower ... the last place I would ever go for a quote because of your bloody irritating radio ads!

Stu says he produces ads in his other business. Can't he offer the clients some better thought out ones than these? Poor show if not.

Manx Radio have a number of adverts on the go just now that use doorbells and phones ringing, and someone thumping on a door.

That is the adman's desperation tactic to get the listeners attention.

It gets my attention, I explete at the radio and hit the dial.

I’d say whoever does the jingles must be over 55. Maybe it is Stu? I say that as all the tunes seem to be based on 1970s songs that nobody has even heard of half the time. The most modern is the A and B Metals one which is a terrible and annoying Madness style jingle that also seems to make me violently ill. I won’t be using them for any steel fabrication needs I might have either.

The worst one by far is that dame in pain that advertises the Ramsey Garden Centre, I would never go near that place if that is their idea of attraction , it is dreadful just like an out of tune violin played badly.

That is meant to be a fairy. It is crap though.

I don't respond to your posts, but if I did I would say that all the old music used for the ads is "rights free" ;)

S'not me. I wanted to offer a production service in 2012 when we staff presenters took a pay (and hours in fairness) cut and made freelancers. But for whatever reason Manx Radio gave the contract for commercial production to an outside supplier. Maybe they were concerned people might think it was a 'jobs for the boys' deal had I got the gig, I don't know.

I'm planning to put a tender in if it ever comes up for renewal. I first wrote and produced radio ads for Woolworths in 1974/5 so I've certainly got the experience!

True I suppose, Manx radio ads do sound like they were done in 1974.
