No. A company has an identity as a single entity distinct from its members.

I would always use the third person singular "is" for a singular subject. Can't see any justification for "are" in this example. A company is not plural.

Usage is usage and a lot of collective-type nouns can be treated either as single or plural.  The important thing is to be consistent.
