The £200,000 was for "the impact of Covid-19" IoMToday

Nicely anticipated!

"the station was allocated extra subvention of up to £200,000 following an assessment of the business risks from Covid and associated potential loss of commercial revenue"

Could there be a follow on application for unanticipated further loss of commercial revenue?

I am delighted to announce that I will be returning to Manx Radio’s Late Show on Wednesday 1st July. This follows a three week suspension after complaints were lodged against me for comments made

Information Notice.pdf Not sure if the PDF link will work, but this is the official word. To everyone on here who has supported me, thank you sincerely. To my many detractors, have a nice day.

Of course we don't even know if there was a loss of commercial revenue.  Or indeed what their commercial revenue is.  And of course they didn't have the extra costs of covering TT and MGP this year (ie 2020-21).

Yes you do. Commercial revenue is disclosed in the published annual reports. Here's 2019 for example. https://mm.aiircdn.com/147/5dd56e79f1418.pdf

So the problem is what ? You don’t like Manx Radio, you like shit stations playing pop, you work for shit stations playing pop, or you run said stations ?

Please explain your distaste for what is a very popular station that has a massive variety of programs for just about every taste..

Are you running out of things to moan about ?

The Manx Radio website newspage is the first 'go to' for me each day, & the station undoubtedly has some great, talented people working for it

Not sure it qualifies as 'very popular' anymore tho'

The problem is dili, is that on top of the advertising revenue it costs the tax payer £1,000,000 a year. Plus the £200,000 for losses due to Covid.

Did 3fm have a loss of revenue? Isle of Man Newspapers? (they must have), and yet according to a question in the House, they didn't screw a penny out of Isle of Man Government. Neither did IoM TV, and Gef etc.

How was that?

The problem here is dili, is that the taxpayer is paying an awful lot of money for an awful lot of people up on Douglas Head.

This isn't have a go at Manx Radio output per se.

Same and more being pissed away on half a dozen unnecessary Civil servants. . Take look at the amount of people on £100,000 plus and look at what they do. If £1,000,000  keeps Manx Radio going I don’t have any issue with it. Good value for money. Same amount that was sent to Nigeria, while their gov is so corrupt they cream it all off and leave pennies for the starving

We don't know what the commercial revenue is.  Here's the 19-20 Report with the world's most unhelpful P&L:

image.png.daab38fefae464a458d0fb76e204e048.png

So we know that the total income for the year was £2,215,293.

We also know (see p 22) that the total government funding for 2020 was £1,129,830, including the subvention, so £1,085,463 of income (about 49%) was from other sources[1].  But we don't know what those sources are or what the breakdown between them is.  We certainly can't assume it's all simple advertising.

[1]  It's possible this includes more government money eg advertising either from government directly or from government agencies such as MUA or MNH.

I bet his ass started making buttons as soon as he realised what he'd done.

I once sent a text to a high ranking colleague telling him to get his kit off as I was on my way home. The shame.  The shame.
