She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult, and Trumpton Riots by Half Man Half Biscuit. Both remind me of being about 14/15, with no worries in the world, no bills to pay and they both conjure up really pleasant feelings.

Ruddy hell, one superb tune and one godawful tune there!!

I have an eclectic taste in music, that is all I am saying! At least I didn't confess to my Pixies and Fleetwood Mac fetish!

Shi.....

My tastes in music are somewhat varied as well. I have a lot of stuff that many people wouldn't confess to owning but I don't care - if it sounds good to me I'll get it regardless of who it is, or if it's a cover or original etc. I don't think there's any music in my collection that I've ever bought because it's popular rather than because I actually like it. And out of hundreds of CDs/Tapes/LPs, only two that I would now readily admit to being pretty crap.

You're right there.

But some awful tunes, and She Sells Sanctuary is one of them, are more evocative of a time and place than a good one. Because I've heard Trumpton Riots many times over the years it could call up a number of places and times, but She Sells Sanctuary will always be the Lido.

The Lido is exactly what I was thinking of when I mentioned She Sells Sanctuary, Declan. Although not the greatest tune on earth, it was always preferable to having to listen to bloody Five Star's System Addict and watch it on the drop down screens!

And for some reason, The Sisters Of Mercy's This Corrosion always reminds me of Bushy's. I miss both places :(

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight reminds me of a summer about 10 years ago that just went on forever

Pantera - Cemetary Gates reminds me of a night in the creek with a young lady....

B52's Rock Lobster - very fondly reminds me of Zhivago's (Bushy's) circa 1986/87 - when they had the 'proper' (vinyl) jukebox before the arse-end of an anglia came into place - there was only the one bar at the time, then expended into the 'middle room' and eventually the 'big room'.

Very much fun 'heady' days!!!!

Sisters Of Mercy - This Corrosion, Cult - Sanctuary, Cure - Lovecats (can't remember the Mission tune) the 'gothy' 10 minutes or so during a Friday or Saturday night at the Lido - all good fun.

Also at the Lido, the Pogues, with the Irish Rover - swinging/getting swung around wildy by the arms, sending people flying, & crashing into other people to link arms with & spin round again - great fun, and not too many fights (think you would be knifed attempting something like that these days???)

Housemartins - Happy Hour - Lido again!!!! (Awful tune!).

New Model Army - I love the World, heading down the autoban, to the Bizarre festival in Loreli, Germany 1989 - fantastic festi, Die Toten Hosen, Jesus and Marychain, Living Colour, The Beatnigs, Jesus Jones, New Model Army - I said to my german friend, that city Ausfart must be huge there were signs pointing to the 'place' for miles - amidst much laughing, I was told it meant exit!

Hmm Cherub Rock to start with I think.

Takes me back to my younger days - being out of my face - completely this track (and album) almost made my brain melt.

Whoever mentioned little fluffy clouds - I had an identical experiance in a club in Milton Keynes - very odd.
