Terry Pratchett

Recommended Posts

Has been a long time since I read the 'original' discworld trio, but the character Rincewind has travelled with me for many years.

- Of course lets not forget the 'painting troll/elf' inside the camera - + no-one has yet mentioned 'luggage'!

IMHO the longest enduring character has to be DEATH - he seems to appear in all of the novels without fail - my first introduction to a character in CAPITALS - suppose a meeting would be terminal :)

Hope TP & his wonderful mind can still introduce us to his next generation of comedy.

Thankyou TP for the fun you have given us!

Too many to mention - Vetinari, Vimes, Carrot.

Literally just this last 10 minutes finished reading Making Money again - Moist von Lipwig is getting to be a favourite too. Two links to possible future books in there too.

I read Good Omens first - can't remember what made me pick it up in the first place, but glad I did.

I like Shadwell and his tins of condensed milk.

Also Nanny Ogg, who knows how to start writing 'banana' but doesn't know how to stop. Honourable mention to Greebo, especially when he was magicked into human form.

But like a lot of people, DEATH is my favourite.

Very sad to hear the news that Terry has passed away. It was his books that first got me reading "proper books" rather than just comics and they still have pride of place on my bookshelf at home.

I always thought he was incredibly dignified in his battle with Alzheimers and was very moved by his views on assisted suicide.

I will, however, always carry all those wonderful characters with me for the rest of my life. The Terry Pratchett twitter feet announced his death with the following tweets;

"AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER"

"Terry took Death's arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night"

"The End"
