ai_Droid
This sunday: http://www.manxe2e.org 600 entries this year, so now a significant sporting event, pretty impressive support. They had to cap entries even.
slinkydevil
You entering? Think I might do this one next year.
When Skies Are Grey
So this weekend there is The end to end cycle ride Powerboats in Douglas Harbour Duke Stages Tarmar rally round the North of Island ...and people complain there is nothing to do on the Island! Good luck to all competing...have fun.
ans
Next weekend it's the End2End Walk, the Shoprite TT Course cycle and a Cancer Thong dash. You would think these people would talk to each other and arrange dates so people don't have to choose.
integer
I didn't realise the E2E was this weekend. I've got an entry in, but haven't even sat on my bike for 4 months. I'm going to be hurting on Monday...

I'm going to be hurting on Monday... You could probably flog the entry, they had to cap it so there's folks who didn't get in! And yeah, all this stuff on the same days is a pain, I'd love to have done the cycle for life, but it's on the same day. And agree, 600 bikes with no road closure at the start is mental. Minxie
I need another target after the 2e2 walk Why don't you have a similar 'bet' for next year's End2End bike race then - plenty of time to practice. Have you chose a place for the curry you'll be buying after next week
ai_Droid
You entering? No, I'm doing the walk the following week, or I would have. Might do the bike one next year though. Shame there's not a similar 'open to all' road bike event. I'm not up to the standard of the lycra cloud but I'd like to do something. I need another target after the 2e2 walk, this'll be the first event I've ever entered and I've definitely noticed an improvement in motivation to get the training done. Triathlon here I come (not!) tempest
hmm 600 bikes all RACING round the islands roads whith only a minor police escort and NO roads closing , not even temporarily to let the bulk through. sounds like a menace to me , but more to the point it sounds dangerous ! Keith brief
hmm 600 bikes all RACING round the islands roads whith only a minor police escort and NO roads closing , not even temporarily to let the bulk through. sounds like a menace to me , but more to the point it sounds dangerous ! Once the quiet back roads of the North are cleared, it's mainly off-road. It's an event which sees the fastest finish in around 3 hours and the slowest in around 7 so there are very few actual large groups of riders. It's not so much a race for many of the riders as a challenge. You'll witness very, very little traffic problems apart from at Ballacraine where we have to cross the TT circuit and on the Howe Road in Port St. Mary where we love to breathe in the traffic fumes after a 40-odd mile bike ride. In the early days, we used to have to ride through the sad Sunday shoppers of Tynwald Mills which was fun.
