After my attempts at discussing the BNP in another thread, I realise the depth of feeling against them after being told to get back to Britain etc. (Strange since I'm Manx?)

If you are Manx then you should be ashamed of yourself - supporting a bunch of British racist pricks.

One guy lives just round the corner from my house... but not that I really care.

I don't think that everyone in the party will really follow the official party line.

Which is worse.....a racist round the corner or a person following a homophobic quasi religion........

My thoughts exactly.

At least a racist probably accepts he's a racist, whereas quasi religious homophobes generally seem to think that they are not.

'the far right map of britiain' -

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/interactive/2008/nov/19/bnp

It shows membership per UK constituency. One thing this clearly shows is that the bnp is essentially an English party - with very little support in Wales and insignificant support in either Scotland or Ireland. Of course, the Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland are not listed. Although, strange as it may seem there were three members listed as living in the Republic of Ireland - one is an ex-pat Englishman who is very angry with the bnp - the other two are in hiding.

Thats very interesting. You can see basically what the BNPs heartlands are - places like Barnsley, Blackburn, Burnley, Halifax, Loughborough etc. In fact if you had a comparable map of areas in the UK with high immigrant populations it would probably overlay with their membership quite nicely.

Its also interesting that support in Celtic regions is virtually nil.

I would deduce that it is here that the English working class is feeling overwhelmed and forgotten in these areas of high immigration

Or its simply where competition for benefits and council houses amongst the British sponging class is most apparent .... that's what its all about. Who feels they should be front of the queue for benefits, and who should not.

Well - thats true, but there are pockets of Southern England that are bnp free - some of which have very large number of immigrants (eg London), and of course there are large numbers of immigrants in Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee. In fact, some of the areas with a surprisingly high number of bnp supporters have very low immigration.

Have a look at this map for a picture of UK immigration:

Bigotry! It isn't about housing and the people there are not all the 'sponging class'. Besides I think the wisest lower working class people are those who 'sponge'.

It is simply because it is areas where there are so many immigrants or where the ratio of brown or black people to white people is high. This stokes up feelings of racism and a longing for times gone. The BNP just exploit those feelings.

The Island has nothing to be snug about. The only reason why the Island has not become a den of spongers is because of the finance sector, but it is still the same sort of people but with more money and a few bourgeois aspirations added. And the Island would be just as receptive to the BNP were it to have very high levels of immigration. The Island's populations are no less prejudiced. I am very sceptical of arguments that are centred on the belief that the Island does not have many BNP supporters because the people identify as Manx and not British. Whether people like it or not the Island is very British or maybe even very English in its population, culture, attitudes, identification with Britain and England etc. Yes the Island has its own distinctiveness but I wouldn't exagerrate it.

or do the kiddie porn rules only apply to images and not text??

Kiddie porn images and text fall under completely different "rules". One is going to get you put away as a sex offender, the other might land you in hot water as an obscene publication (assuming the images in question are photos of abuse, and the text in question is fictional of course).
