DTI development managers Lisa Underwood and Adrian Moore have been involved in every stage of the project.

Now I know the names of two development managers not to employ on website design.

If they want it to work then Duke Video are going to have to get their act into gear when it comes to delivery times. My friend placed an order on the 4th September & there's still no sign of it. They haven't responded to emails either :angry:

Interestingly not all the shops on here comply with the necessary rules. You'd think Venda would know these rules.

Company information that must be supplied under the E-Commerce Regulations

The E-Commerce Regulations require that all commercial web sites make the following information directly and permanently available to consumers via the website:

* the company's name, postal address (and registered office address if this is different) (cannot be a PO Box) and email address (web form is not enough);

* the company's registration number;

* any Trade or Professional Association memberships;

* the company's VAT number.

All of this applies regardless of whether the site sells on-line. In addition, any commercial communication – that is any email or even SMS text message – used in providing an "Information Society Service" must display this information.

The E-Commerce Regulations also require that all prices must be clear and unambiguous, and web sites must state whether the prices are inclusive of taxes and delivery costs.

I see they've solved the problem with the number of shops in each category changing by taking the number off!

The number of categories still keeps changing though... sometimes 8, sometimes 11, and sometimes 13.

I see in the Examiners Business news pullout dated 22 September, page 3 near the bottom of the third column, A Mister Dan Wagner says

the company would usually charge £6000 per month for a website whereas it is £50 for Isle of Man firms.

£6000 / month if they were getting the full Venda Enterprise system, like Superdrug or Panasonic use.

What they really get is the Small business system which Venda sell off the shelf for £49.99 / month anyway (http://shop.venda.com/engine/shop/page/Product+%26+Getting+Started/Pricing)

Bullshit Mr. Wagner

This whole project is visionary* apparently

http://www.iomtoday.co.im/isle-of-man-busi...line.5669202.jp

*they seem to have spelt shite incorrectly there

Visionary?

Characterized by vision or foresight.

2. a. Having the nature of fantasies or dreams; illusory.

b. Existing in imagination only; imaginary.

3. a. Characterized by or given to apparitions, prophecies, or revelations.

b. Given to daydreams or reverie; dreamy.

4. a. Not practicable or realizable; utopian: visionary schemes for getting rich.

b. Tending to envision things in perfect but unrealistic form; idealistic.

n. pl. vi·sion·ar·ies

1. One who is given to impractical or speculative ideas; a dreamer.

2. One who has visions; a seer.

Sounds about right.

I'd call it propaganda.

Self praise is no praise.

It's a second rate pigs ear.

They still haven't fixed the code.

Perspective please!?

A shoppng directory. Google top 6!

http://storezone.co.uk/

http://www.shobby.co.uk/

http://www.shopbritain.co.uk/

http://www.shopping5.com/

http://www.elib.org/

http://www.4ukshopping.co.uk/

Damn sight better looking and easier to use than any of these!

I think this is an example of a straw man argument since relatively nobody in the British Isles goes to Google in search of a "shopping directory". People invariably search for either the specific item they are looking for, or the brand, or sometimes the general category. Or else they search for the online website of an outlet they already know.
