I like MF, somebody always leaks gigs.

However, seeing as all MR can say about Mr Adams is that he sang that god awful song that was at number 1 for far too long, reminded me that I have something else on whem he is playing at the Villa.

I dont know what it is yet, but I have put my pliers out in the rain now as I am sure it will involve rusty pliers and body parts. Far better than having to sit through THAT song ever again.

MR is going right out the window the moment they play THAT song now. (bet its Alex that plays it - but seeing as I switch it over when he is on now, I may just miss it)

This...............

Got my first real six-string

Bought it at the five-and-dime

Played 'til my fingers bled

It was summer of '69

Me and some guys from school

Had a Band and we tried real hard

Jimmy quit and Jody got married

I shoulda known we'd never get far

Oh when I lock back now

That was seemes to last forever

And if I had the choice

Ya - I'd always wanna be there

Those were the best days of my life

(CHORUS)

Ain't no use in complainin'

When you got a job to do

Spent my evenin's down at the drive in

And that's when I met you

Standin on a mama's porch

You told me that you'd wait forever

Oh and when you held my hand

I knew that it was no or never

Those were the best days of my life

(Chorus) Back in Summer of '69

Man we were killin' time

We were young and restless

We needed to unwind

I guess nothin' can last forever, no

And now the times are changin'

Look at everything that's come and gone

Somethimes when I play that old six-string

I think about ya wonder what went wrong

Standin' on a mama's porch

You told me it would last forever

Oh the way you held my hand

I knew that it was now or never

Those were the best days of my life

(Chorus) Back in summer of '69

** please note cut and passed of tinternet, so hold no responsability for poor grammer or spelling!!! lol

Still a great feel good song.

8-)

Bryan Adams to Play Villa Marina

The Department of Tourism and Leisure has confirmed that Bryan Adams will play an acoustic show at the Villa Marina on Wednesday 20th January, 2010.

The star, whose hits include 'Summer of '69', 'Run to You' and 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You'), will visit the Island as part of his 'Very Special Solo Performance Tour', courtesy of promoter Live Nation.

Adams' show will include selections from his eleventh studio album, appropriately titled '11'.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has sold more than 65 million albums worldwide, garnered 21 top ten hits, and earned nominations for three Academy Awards and five Golden Globes.

Adams has long worked tirelessly for a wide variety of charitable causes: as well as playing at Live Aid, Live 8 and the Concert for Freedom for Nelson Mandela, his performances have supported Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and many more humanitarian and environmental causes.

Through his own foundation, he has also helped to build schools in areas of Southeast Asia which were devastated by the tsunami in 2004.

In the last few years, Bryan Adams has distinguished himself as a photographer of some repute, specialising in portraits of personalities from the film, music, and fashion industries; his most recent exhibit, 'Modern Muses', has been displayed at London's National Portrait Gallery.

Amidst all this, he remains one of the most enduring rock performers and songwriters of the last few decades, famed for his outstanding live performances.

Martyn Quayle MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, said, "I am absolutely delighted to welcome a world class artist such as Bryan Adams to the Villa Marina.

"The venue continues to attract major artists in music, comedy and theatre, and we strive to ensure that everyone living in the Isle of Man has access to the best possible quality of entertainment."

Tickets for the concert will go on sale from the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, Douglas on Saturday 24th October at 10am and via the Ticket Hotline on (01624) 600555.

Prices start at £40.

Please note that tickets will be strictly limited to four per person and will not be available online or at the Villa Marina.

FIXED:

Martyn Quayle MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, said, "I am absolutely delighted to welcome a world class has been such as Bryan Adams to the Villa Marina.

"The venue continues to attract tribute acts, bands from ancient history where only one of the original members still lives plus other people your parents used to listen to when they were young, and one or two decent acts that sell out instantly. We strive to ensure that everyone living in the Isle of Man has access to the bare minimum of overpriced out of date entertainment ."

Tickets for the concert will go on sale from the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, Douglas (queue now...sorry too slow) on Saturday 24th October at 10am and via the Ticket Hotline on (01624) 600555 (which will hang up on you should more than 2 people call). We regret our 16k dial modem can not cope with that modern internet thingy, so we will pretend it doesn't exist

Prices start at £40 (gottcha!).

It's all down to personal taste. I like him / his music/

I am pleased he is playing, and will get some tickets. (And i never queue, so with a bit of look there wont be a queue, and that will suit me just fine, but even if there is, I like him enough to wait in line).

Does anybody wonder if major music artists out there may not want to come to this Island? There is far too much whingeing about the quality of the acts provided here. Imagine if you had millions of $ in the bank and your agent asked you to leave your luxury home and come to Douglas instead for one night only and play to 1,500 folk. What would you do?

I'm not too bothered about Bryan Adams coming over. The best news from this is that Live Nation are promoting the concert. Have the DTL finally tendered out some of the bookings to a professional agent? Hopefully Live Nation will be sending more artists this way, and come next year / TT, bands will be wanting to do warm up gigs for major festival slots. Kaisers did it this year, we could be in line for a few really good gigs next year.

The Bryan Adams concert is just a solo show, he'll do a load of songs from this new album that only die hard fans will know. You're average man on the street who will be wanting to hear summer of 69 / run to you will get cutdown versions that will feel strange to dance to. I really can't see him doing Everything I Do on his own. It could be done if he had a couple of people backing him but not if it's a solo act.

Aye, noticed that LiveNation were promoting it, that can't be a bad thing. I was hoping that tickets would also be on sale through LiveNation but alas, it's queuing at the Sea Terminal for folks.
