That'll be more eco-taxation then, and a need for yet more research into why Europe didn't become a dustbowl.

Silver lining - at least (like the post 9/11 explosion of 'security' jobs) there'll be fewer people out of work, although they'll all be monitoring and checking rather than actually producing anything (but data).

Science moves on and more data is collected and comparisons made between models and reality to try to get them to fit ever closer.

Here's a nice summary of the state of the art on our understanding of what is happening to the Gulf Stream - it looks troubling with more evidence accumulating that it might be stopped in centuries to come by the effects of melt water coming from Greenland.

Waters around the Isle of Man are actually warming slightly with according to Gov statistics most of the rise since the mid Nineties . , With traditional cold water fish such as cod and plaice becoming scarce ,whilst sea bass and spider crab are now seen a lot more frequently. Still think it's mainly natural evolution though!

But the cloud to the silver lining is that every time you buy something you will pay an informal levy on it to cover all the highly paid unproductive work that's going on.

That's the thing. All the talk of green energy, renewals, electric cars and shit and we're still driving to work in petrol cars, still powering our homes with gas or oil, still going about everything the same way. It won't change because it can't, not without massive upheaval of the worlds economy. Taxing shit isn't going to do anything.

And it doesn't even matter. Even if the entire UK was PURELY green, with everyone eating vegetarian foods, we're still only 1% of the global emissions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions

China and India are growing at a massive pace, and will continue to grow in emissions.

We're better off burning the resources now to make the technological advances and infrastructure changes we will need in future to survive, as wasting them on inefficient projects won't work.
