Whisky On The Rocks

Recommended Posts

Interesting news that crates of whisky taken by Shackleton 100 years ago to the Antarctic have been discovered under the ice near his hut there.

It will be fascinating to see how it tastes and how the blending has changed since then. My brother found a 1930's bottle of whisky when he was clearing out the effects of a late aunt of ours. It was a shame not to try it! The blend had a much stronger taste of Islay malt in it - much peatier than modern blended whiskies. Very pleasant.

I see that they also found some brandy. This must all be from Shackleton's 'farthest south' expedition.

Would love to sample the whisky and the brandy too.

It'd be interesting indeed. I am partial to a wee dram.
