Dep of Education just tweeted:

Officers are in close contact with Met, buses, police and any announcement re school closures will be made at around 7.45am Monday.

http://twitter.com/#!/iomeducation

That's too late.

What happened to the 7:30 that was in use at the start of the year then?

I'm out the door and on my way to skool by 7:45 - and some kids have been waiting for the bus since 7:30.

7:30 is still too late IMHO - I will be well pissed off if I made the journey in the snow only to find some bloke still in bed decided to close the place.

And - as for the Dept of Ed and C using twitter .. there is a perfectly good email system that all school staff have access to which has no information about tomorrow so far - 7:45, 7:30 or what ever time they feel would be fit for those that do 9 - 5 in an office.

Thought the mountain road was supposed to be shut. Just looked at the Laxey Valley webcam, and there's loads of tyre marks up at bungalow. Looks like someone's been doing donuts in their cars.

Not a lot of snow up there, but I suppose it could be hiding some ice, and the hills up and down may be a bit crazy (like the people who seem to have gone up there for a bit of "fun").

Airport the latest victim of the weather, some buses restored

http://www.manxradio.com/newsread.aspx?id=48843

The weather is particularly bad in the south of the Island this afternoon.

The airport was closed just after 2.30pm.

Airport director Anne Reynolds says they will review the situation at 5pm.

Ballamodha Straight was closed between its junctions with Silverdale Glen and Ballabay Gawne Road just before 3.30pm, as was Shore Road, Gansey.

Snow is also causing problems on Richmond Hill, Santon, Ballasalla, Foxdale and Castletown.

The Department of Infrastructure says gritting teams are currently working in these and other areas around the Island.

Manx Radio has been inundated with calls and texts this afternoon from drivers saying the main road in the Fairy Bridge area is gridlocked, with many abandoned cars there too.

The Mountain Road was closed just after 8.30am.

Bray Hill in Douglas was shut at 10.30am, but then reopened at 12.45pm.

The Lhergy Cripperty, East Baldwin, Tholt-y-Will, Druidale and Beinn-y-Phott Roads were all shut earlier this morning.

The police are urging you to stay at home, unless your journey is absolutely necessary.

If you have to go out, take extreme care and drive according to the weather conditions, using dipped headlights.

Meanwhile, all bus services were suspended until further notice just before 9am.

Services in Onchan and Willaston are now running again, albeit just on the main roads.

They are not serving the estates.

All other buses remain suspended, with a further announcement due at 5pm.
