London Marathon Deaths

Recommended Posts

Is running the London marathon more dangerous than not running the London marathon? I genuinely don't know.

People die all the time, sometimes while at home doing nothing, sometimes while playing sport. It seems to me that if over the past 30 years, once a year you got several thousand people to congregate together somewhere for a few hours, a few of them may have died during this non-event.

I'm more certain that the London marathon has saved more lives than it has cost, both in terms of charitable funds raised, and in terms of increased levels of fitness (and thereby a generally reduced risk of cardio-vascular death) for those that train for it.

Lunaire's not gonna be happy with your common sense well delivered post....it scuppers his delight in being (supposedly) 'clever' about most topics on this forum. Mind you, at least he's not prejudice. He's nasty to everybody who sees through his feeble attempts at satire/humour

Pierrot is surely looking to the day there is a death in the Parish Walk.

He's missed out on that one. 1968 at the Devil's Elbow, 18yr old competitor hit by a car.

I still don't understand why those of you posting anti-PL posts don't just block him instead and then you wouldn't get so worked up. I have several people on block who I know to be just unpleasant little trolls . It's great. Try it. I, on the other hand, look out fot PL's posts coz I think he's the most entertaining poster on here.

I agree. I have read this forum for a few years now and have to say that Pierrot Lunaire, under his many names, is indeed quick witted and intelligent and runs circles around those who try to belittle him, like A.T.

P.L.stirs up debate on loads of topics, which surely is what a forum is for. Without people like P.L. this forum would be boring as f*** and would die on it's ass.

We used to have someone come on this forum who reckoned he was a bit of a celebrity in the Parishwalk. He used tp come on here recommending taking all sorts of drinks and tablets and how to train etc.

Most startling, he reckoned it was all about mind over matter, forcing yourself through the 'pain barrier'. Even if it was a case of bone rubbing on bone, you could use 'mind over matter' to finish the Parishwalk etc...etc..etc...

I gave the bulshitter a bit of stick on the forum. Not something I would normally want to do, but to me it was a serious matter having some gobshite flouncing about a public forum giving dangerous but self congratulatory advice about walking the Parishwalk.

Anyway, just thought I'd say, to put the record straight like. Thanks for the thread PL.
