Airport Passenger Numbers Drop Again - And Again - And Again - And Again - And Again!

Recommended Posts

She blames it on the weather, man!

Is it just me or is the tone of IOM newspapers a bit frosty there? "Figures released by bosses at the loss-making airport...", etc?

Mind you, anyone can lose the will to be happy when listening to Betty Bullsh...:

Airport director Ann Reynolds said: ‘We had forecast to be very slightly short of 2011 levels for July, but ended up with some 2.5 per ent fewer passengers than we expected.

In clear text: we expected to suck but we sucked even more than we expected.

The fact she is still in a job highlights, in a nutshell, everything that is wrong with this rock. Not even qualified for the job in the first place, makes a mess of it, gets a promotion and lives the

I keep air travel to a minimum (although my last flight c/o Easyjet was a much better experience than any with Flybe). THE SECURITY AT RONALDSWAY IS AN ABSOLUTE NONSENSE AND I STRONGLY OBJECT TO BEIN

We're clearly all panicking over nothing IMO.   The Directress long ago assured us and our Leaders who appointed her that next year there'll be 1,500,000 passengers a year passing through the hallow

So when are we seeing these cost savings that were possible? Never? Oh there's a surprise.

The Olympics will be August's excuse for less than stellar figures.

This Winter with easyJet having a big go at Flybe on the Liverpool and Gatwick route is going to be great for the consumer (£15.99 to Gatwick with EasyJet at the minute on some days... can't make any money on that)

Yes but dont forget the big own goal that is just around corner when Flybe start withdrawing all the other non profitable or minimum viable regional routes because IOMG has allowed EasyJet to rip a big chunk out of their Gatwick traffic which is just about the only profitable Manx route they have and which subsidises some of the other IOM routes.

David Callister said "lets put it into perspective "

OK David here you go !

We have an overstaffed, overblown airport consuming massive amounts of tax payers money which in truth we cannot afford. The whole deception was based around a bullshit business case which was proven to be folly even before the half brains in Tynwald voted to piss away many millions which could have had a far more positive effect in other areas. The government continue to piss away millions at the behest of a management who at best are incompetent and must spend the whole month thinking of excuses as to why it is a failing facility. Oh and we continue to build more bullshit facilities for traffic which just does not exist.

There its in perspective for you !

do MHK's / MLC's get free access to the "Executive Lounge" ?

might aswell double post here as it seems apt.

heard a rumour that the new executive hanger thingy has been finanaced to completion with a 3 million pound government ( interest free ) loan to a private company. no doubt in a short time that company will no longer exist but the hanger will by then belong on paper to 'someone' and the government will get no more payments ( if they ever ask for or receive any anyway ). as i think got mentioned on another thread a few months back the rumour was the build was deliberately started even without finances in place to secure the planning permission that was timing out in the near future. as bainsey was one of the rumoured original financiers you have to wonder how much of a real business plan there was.

Flybe have milked the island for long enough, let's not get all teary eyed at the first sign of competition.

I fly to London often and last week Flybe's day return flights were actually about half the cost of BA's on the same day so they got my business. All that's happened is they have had to sharpen their pencil a bit to attract customers in what was a pretty captive market, it's called free market forces and the consumer will be the beneficiary.

I'd be astounded if there wasn't atleast an element of truth in the rumour.

The consumer going to Manchester, Birmingham or Edinburgh wont be a benefactor of this competition on the Gatwick route. Soon there will only be London, Liverpool or Blackpool if Flybe cant cross subsidise the loss making routes with Gatwick fares. Free market forces simply dont work in low volume, low demand markets like the IoM.
